Below are comments made by the A.D. & the head coach of Colorado State University to a group of former black Alumni this past weekend when asked how the university
planned to address the 33% graduation rate of the black athlete at the school:
∑ "Never thought about it"
∑ "Culturally Black people teach their kids to smoke weed @ 10/11 yrs old."
∑ ”[I've never seen a solid family structure in a home of a player I recruited]”
Could we move this or at least the relevant posts out of the island?
Let's get it to the DP.CU would get eviscerated if this came out.
Let's get it to the DP.
The double standard is frustrating in the local media. This would be a major, major headline in Boulder.
However, I guess it goes to show who is still the top dog in these parts.
Where did you find these sNc?
Dear God, can you imagine if those quotes had come from Barney? Or worse yet, McCartney? :wow:
I'd be very curious to know whether these came from Graham or McElwaine, or if each was responsible for part of the comments. The letter really doesn't specify.
It would also be interesting to know if the "former black alumni" are formerly alumni or formerly black, and what precipitated their change of status in either case. But that's really another subject for another time, I suppose...
The letter to Frank said that the second comment (pot smokers) was Graham and the third comment (never seen a stable home) was McElwain.
CSU has a rivals site?Someone posted it on the CSU rivals site
Quality cover up imo
So it sounds like it was actually true and CSU apologized for it, and hired a couple African-Americans to make up for it.

Apparently it's "all extortion" and a "vile marketing effort"Quality cover up imo

Easier to cover up when no one really cares about your institution.
That kind of thing does happen (see Jackson, Jesse). But irregardless, you still have that 33% graduation rate for CSU's black athletes to address. If that statistic is true, it's appalling.
rep for cross-thread continuation...
The more I think about this, the more angry I get. It is just infuriating that CSu gets a pass on almost everything negative about their program, whereas CU's transgressions get blown up to epic proportions by the local media. I get and appreciate that CU is the bigger story in the State - but the 'little engine that could' narrative with CSU over the past 15 years is enough to make me puke.
