Interesting article about bringing the H-back back.

Seems to me, the author is referring to a position commonly known as Fullback...

From Reddit
HBs FBs TBs are all RBs. FBs were the OG of RBs, and were originally a full length away from the LOS (line of scrimmage), hence the "full". QBs were a quarter length away, and HBs a half length away. Eventually football evolved, and FBs were no longer the main ball carrier.
Now the FB, if he sees the field at all, lines up between the QB and the HB in an I-formation, or to the right or left of the QB in a shotgun/pistol formation.
The HB (TB) is the main ball carrier on running plays, while the FB is the main blocker on run and pass plays. Rarely does the FB go out for passes or carry the football.
There is also another position you should be aware of that has come to replace the FB in many ways; the H-back, not to be confused with the HB.
The H-Back is a tight end that sits behind the line of scrimmage and can be motioned into the back field to play the role of a FB, can be motioned out into the slot between the split end and the tackle, or can act like a traditional tight end.
