The New Yorker has an article about how the acai berry came to be marketed in the United States. Ryan Black, former CU safety, played the major role in importing and marketing the fruit. The website only has an abstract, but if you have a chance, read the whole article, it's very entertaining--though some of you may object to Ryan's claim that he just like to "read, smoke weed, and chill" when he wasn't playing football in Boulder.
