Is Colorado the least experienced team in the country?

According to Phil Steele we are. The big question is can we win without experience?

To formulate a point system, I awarded 3 points for every senior starter (2.5 for every additional senior in the two deep) 2 points for every junior starter (1.5 for every additional junior in the two deep) 1 point for a sophomore starter (0.5 for every additional soph in the 2 deep then subtracted 1 point for every frosh starter and .5 for every frosh in the two deep. The total points column uses that formula to figure out the points awarded to a team. The number before the team is where they came up in my overall ranking of all the teams in the NCAA. This list was compiled during magazine season and there have been some changes to the 2 deep since it went to press, which may not be accounted for. This chart will give you an idea of the most experienced and least experienced teams in the NCAA this year.

I'm somewhat baffled by this. We played a ****load of freshman and sophomores last year due to injury, need, talent etc. Where did that record number of freshman and sophomores that played last year go? Personally, I think we have an underrated amount of returning experience.

Requires some assumptions in terms of who will be starting and who will be the back-ups but overall it looks pretty accurate. We have very few upper class starters and almost no upper class depth. We did play a lot of Fr. last year, they are now sophmores. We also played a lot of fr. and soph at a limited number of positons going through multiple players.

Bottom line is thanks to keeping Hawk an extra year we are forced to play a bunch of very young guys because there isn't much left on the roster from his last classes that is contributing.

The extra year of Hawkins set us back 2 years, because Embree didn't have enough time to recruit when he was hired as head coach his first year.

If the new guys step up and are talented then Colorado should have a good chance of winning some games while sneaking up on a few teams. The Pac-10 never followed expectations so a team like Colorado that is picked to finish last could easily finish in the middle of the Pac-12.
