It's the first full Saturday of football season, and I don't care.

I'm not even watching other games today. I used to love college football. It's lost much of it's luster recently.

College football has always been a "guilty pleasure" of mine (guilty due to the frequent abuses in recruiting, some schools only giving lip service to academics, obvious dangers to players, etc.). Plus I was a CFB fan long before I was a Buffs fan, so while CU's lack of success has certainly abated my overall enthusiasm for the sport, I'll still watch it.

And it's refreshing to see two schools who take the "student" aspect in "student-athlete" seriously put fairly good teams on the field. We'll see later in the season whether they will excel.

Watching Stanford get flat beaten by N'Western was hella fun.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Scum Devils expose aggie.

Only CU could have a season effectively over before the first Saturday of the season.

Not be a contrarian ... but didn't we all feel that way back in 2001, when we lost a nationally broadcast game at home to Fresno St.? That season turned out pretty well IIRC.

And no ... I am in no way comparing the talent on that team to today's team. Just pointing out that not all is necessarily lost after Game 1. The staff in 2001 found a way to make the team forget about the first game and concentrate on improvement. Maybe the interruption in play after the second game (SJSU IIRC) due to 9/11 helped the team put it behind them, but who knows. All I know is that team was pretty awesome despite the loss to "the other FSU."

Even in a best case miraculous scenario we win 5-6 games. While that would be encouraging, we're still sitting at home for the holidays with a losing record. This is one of those losses that stings more than a regular loss. Sure, even at 4-0 a bowl would have been unlikely, but couldn't we have at least dreamed of it for a month or two? ****.

And as others have pointed out, if we do get to say, six wins somehow, this loss will feel all the more devastating.

I feel a lot better today, actually. Enjoyed watching the Jayhawks lose at home to an FCS team.

Ok. I lied. I'm watching Cal prison rape Grambling. 35-0 in the first quarter. Goff looks great, but Grambling looks certifiably awful.

Also caught the last five minutes of the Portland State/WSU game. I now have a glimmer of hope this season might not be a total cluster.

 You just posted to show off your new avatar, right? :ROFLMAO:

To be honest, I'm enjoying being reminded that there are other teams that seem to be in a lot worse shape than us.

Have enjoyed watching football much of the day, burned out my frustration by staining the front deck this morning. To tired to still be pissed.

By the way Sacky, a better choice for your avitar, or at least your sig.

Well, too bad you and I will have to listen to these insufferable Aggie Doosh monkeys after they trashed the Scum Devils...

I'm at a weekend wedding in Light-My-Fart Lake, Nebraaka. I had the pleasure of watching ~10 Nubbies grab their heads all at once when that Hail Mary scored today. That helped my mood immensely.
