I never understand this reaction of shutting down a Twitter account. Did he really not expect heat and flak if things went south? It works both ways.. its not just a medium for sunshine pumping.

I dont blame him. Who wants all the negativity when you need to stay positive. He's got a ton of work and doesn't the distraction.

He shouldn't have created Twitter account in the first place if that's the case. If its only there to pump sunshine, then don't bother. I don't buy that its a distraction now that we have lost 2, but wasn't a distraction before.
I do. It´s about how you represent the program and yourself and just quitting when things aren´t going well is no way to handle this stuff. If you can´t take it when an anonymous guy calls you name online and just shut down afterwards, you´re not the kind of person who is capable of leading a BCS level football program.
I don´t think it sends a good message to recruits when the guy who wants you to play for him just quietly quits something over night. No. good. at. all.
Exactly and the game didn't help recruiting either. Twitter is a must have with kids these days.
Mind you, you could tell he only had the account because someone told him to and not because he was overly interested in it.

This Is shades of Hawk who couldn't take the heat and protected his tweets late in his tenure. Dude is breaking down.
I like Embree and all but if the floor drops out in this season, 0-12, 1-11, I don't know how you can keep him. I've seen too many cracks already. No team keeps a 0-12 coach, not even Hawaii when I played for them. We better have a plan B ready because I don't see us beating Fresno or winning anytime soon.

Embo uses a different account (same setup for Facebook) to communicate with recruits. This was a PR decision from as AD with a history of being extremely thin-skinned. I guess since they want to shut down public criticism, the message is that we should just shut up. Either give blind support or they don't want us.
Very weak if he blocked an acct for that. I don't blame him for wanting to hide, but that's not what I want out of my head coach. Taking heat is part of the job.

Exactly. I think the chances that Embree actually ever touched that account were pretty slim. Probably handled by a student intern in the AD, if I had to guess.... and the order to shut it down no doubt came from somebody above that person. Maybe in the AD, maybe in the SID department... :huh:

Although I dont think it was Embo's decision to delete it. If thats what caused whoever to delete it that is embarrassing. Thats not even half as bad as the tweets I see Kenny Bell (Receiver for Nebraska) get for dropping a pass..
