ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — University of Colorado senior Shalaya Kipp earned her first NCAA Indoor Track and Field All-America honor after she placed seventh in the women’s 5,000-meter run on Friday night at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Kipp finished the 5k in 16 minutes, 32.03 seconds. She ran the majority of the race around ninth (out of 16 runners) and seemed to be running pretty comfortably. With just a few laps left, Kipp started to turn things up and picked off a couple of racers in front of her. She finished just in front of Providence’s Emily Sisson (16:34.18), who took eighth, but was unable to catch William & Mary’s Emily Stites (16:27.99) who finished sixth overall. Dartmouth’s Abbey D’Agostino won it all in 16:20.39.
