USAFA, Colo. —For the second time this season, junior Alex Kizirian has broken the University of Colorado weight throw record.
Kizirian recorded a toss of 68 feet, 4 ½ inches for the record on Friday night at the Air Force Invitational, surpassing his previous record of 67-2 by more than a foot. The throw won the meet with the next closest toss coming from Wyoming’s Tyler Anderson, who had a mark of 64-4. Kizirian’s performance also moved him up from 12[SUP]th[/SUP] on the NCAA Division I list, to seventh.
Senior Emily Hunsucker also performed well in the women’s weight throw, recording a personal best of 57-7 ¾, which placed seventh at the meet. She is the second best performer in CU history and her throw ranks 11[SUP]th[/SUP] overall.
