Kronshage Twitter mistake

The dp has a report that Sam Kronshage used a racial slur on twitter, directed at a student from an opposing school. Should we be concerned? I know he's a kid, but typing it out at least gives you time to think about it. How people continue to make those stupid mistakes is beyond me.
 
I don't know what he tweeted, so it's hard to pass judgement one way or the other. All we're getting is the DP version, which is suspect.
 
Well which form did he use? Big difference between the two, but I'm going to guess it was the worse of the two...
 
The irony of who wrote that article makes me laugh. He would know about tweeting something he shouldn't have.

His ass better have been quoting a movie or hip-hop lyrics.
 
I don't know whether I'm just clueless or if apathy has taken over, but I have no idea who Sam Kronshage is. If this is a big deal, I assume it's because he's a football player.
 
Unfortunately lots of these kids kon't understand what it means to be in the public eye. I don't ever use the word and don't like the use of the word in any context but a lot of younger people do use it in slang or joking context. From the follow up tweet it sounds like this may have been the case.

That said when you sign to take a football scholly you become a public figure. You have to show the judgement to know that nothing on the internet is private and if something can be taken in a way you didn't intend it probably will by someone.
 
Just not an excuse for going racial. Just not an excuse. I would like to see the context though rather than depending on Hender-o-phile for the typical burn CU story.

Just plain stupid. Not only was the tweet extremely inappropriate, he used the wrong form of 'your.' :mad:
 
I don't know about this, but I unfollowed him after he found an extremely homophobic twitter that he kept retweeting
 
Yeah...get rid of this kid. We don't need guys like this on our team. Dumb kid hopefully will find out there are consequences in life for the (extremely bad) decisions you make.
 
The comments section in the original article are more offensive to me than the racist tweets.

There's no excuse for the tweets, but there is a reason. If the comments are an accurate representation of things down there, then I think there's something to be said on the topic of us all being products of our environments (especially at 17/18 years old). A kid can certainly grow from that and move on from it.

I condemn this more than I did Yuri's tweets last year since this was personally directed at someone else, but just like last year I do want to give a kid an opportunity to learn and grow from this as long as he's willing to do his part.

Yeah but Yuri was a 4* recruit so...you know...
 
It's going to be interesting to see how this story develops. Thing is, he probably has black teammates that he gets along with just fine. Sounds to me like this was a deal where he was trying to get under the skin of a rival and crossed the line. Still, I think CU is very concerned about even the slightest perception of racism. This could be enough for MM to cut him loose.

Obviously he should be punished but you don't kick him off the team for that. He should be on a short leash though.

Also to put it into perspective, he committed to a black head coach to play under a black offensive coordinator after being scouted and sold on CU by a black lead recruiter.

What he tweeted is inexcusable and racially hurtful. I have no idea why he followed the lead of the guy who first tweeted that by repeating it, but there's more with Kronshage to consider before labeling him a racist imho.
