Kstate beats Bevo...is that good for CU?

Selection committee is always biased but if we beat KSU twice, UT once and KSU beats UT on their home court, is that better for CU or worse? RPI has to go up I would think.

I think the opposite, makes the B12 look deep and competitive. Helps our chances and our resume

I think the big 12 is going to be exposed in the ncaa tourney this year. It's top teams are not that good. There are some lesser teams that could knock some folks off, but I don't see a big 12 team in the final four. In fact, I'm pretty sure CU will be the only representative of the big 12 in the elite 8.

I like your enthusiasm

I think it hurt a little more than it helped because now our 1 elite win doesn't look so great because now it looks just like another loss for UT in a bad stretch where they've lost 3 out of 4.

It hurts from the perspective that KSU will now likely get to 10-6 in conference, which will rank them ahead of CU.

A 9-7 KSU team would lose the tiebreaker to a 9-7 CU team.

Yes, k-State is a lock for the 4 seen in the Big XII tourney. We can win out and get the 5th seed, which I think looks pretty good. Would most likely put us against ISU in the first round and K-State in the second.

As far as Texas losing to KSU, I have no clue what that will do to our RPI and how that will look on our resume to the selection committee.

Personally, I think CU's best bet is to finish 5th and not get the bye because I think we'll need to win at least one B12 tournament game whether or not we get a first round bye. At this point, KSU is going to get in over us even if we finish above them in conference.

Wouldn't it be better to finish 6th instead of 5th? Then we could do the whole revenge tour thing. Take another shot at Oklahoma maybe, and then take another shot at aTm. I would really like to avoid playing KState in the second game

I like the matchups for a 6th place finish, but I think we want to finish as high as possible and beat whoever in the Big 12 tourney

I was thinking that, too.

Yes - I am thinking this, too.

I would take the 6th seed, with the chance to play #3 Texas A&M in the 2nd round of the Big 12 tournament. KSU will have a lot of fans in KC for the tourney, and like them or not - they are hot right now. Texas A&M might have less fans than CU will.

so we went from #77 on real time rpi to.......

drumroll......

Statsheet has us moving up from 77 to 72. Five spots makes sense. Nebraska is at 80. Iowa State is somewhere in the 130's.

I'm starting to agree. Playing KSU right now would be teh sux.

I think it hurt us, because Texas is now officially "slumping". As was KjSU early in the season when we beat them twice. All 3 of our top 25 wins can now be devalued by saying that the teams were in the midst of a bad stretch when they lost to us...

Except for that fateful trip to Boulder, KSU hasn't lost since January.

yes I was talking about our RPI increase after KSU beating Texas since we played KSU twice.

Got it, I actually wasn't quite sure if you meant over the weekend or what.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the committee looks at a quality win to see if the team you beat was in the midst of a slump. They just look at it at face value and see that you have X number of wins over top 25/top 50 RPI teams.

I definitely think 6th is better than 5th. 6th would be fantastic as theres' not a doubt in my mind that CU can beat aTm.
For the record, 6th is a great seed for NCAA tournaments too - undoubtedly better than 5th/4th in my opinion

KSU beating Texas is fine. CU is 3-2 against RPI top 25 (top 20 now?) teams. Far better than anything Baylor, Michigan or others can boast of. That said, we need Texas to get their **** together and get a win in Waco

When it comes right down to deciding between the last teams on the bubble (probably our best case scenario at this point), I suspect that's exactly the kind of thing they're looking at...
