It's a damn shame it's come to this-

http://www.coloradoan.com/article/20130730/SPORTS0201/307300010/zach-stefo?nclick_check=1

Zach Stefo wanted it to be a surprise, but the secret got out.Stefo, a 2014 offensive lineman for Pomona High School, called CSU defensive coordinator Marty English on Sunday night to say he planned on committing to the Rams but wanted to hold off until he could do it in person, meeting face-to-face with coach Jim McElwain.

“I’ve been up there and looked at the campus and it was nice, but in reality, all of these colleges have nice campuses. I want to play for a school and a program that’s going somewhere,” Stefo said. “I could have gone to CU, but I’d probably have lost for the next five years. CSU has a bright future and coach McElwain has established a great base. I trust him for the next five years.”

I suppose only having offers from New Mexico St and csewe only gives a person limited choices.
What a douche to slam a school that didn't even offer.

Here's the reason why "CU MUST Beat CSU In A Month":

It's the first game on the schedule and quite possibly the most winnable game on the schedule. That's the extent I care. When CU takes care of its own house, CSU becomes irrelevant except for 1 week of local media and fan sniping.

CSU is already irrelevant except for one week of media and fan sniping.

Sadly I think CSU takes this game. If it was week 2 or 3, after MM had worked out some of the kinks with his staff and players then we would win but...sorry.

I certainly hope he isn't a history major. Outside of one short burst of "glory" in the Sonny years when has CSU ever been going anywhere other than to the bottom of the standings in bottom feeder conferences. A team that has won less than 50% of its games in history even though most of their games have been against less than stellar competition.

The good thing is that playing for a program like that is less embarassing since they don't have that many people watching them. Last year they averaged less than 20,000 people a home game.

As Nik says this years game is important because it is one of the games that is a winnable game on our schedule. It is also important that we get off on the right foot for the sake of the confidence and attitude of the team and our recruiting.

In time we need to get this game back to one that is a big enough missmatch that the sheep fans don't want to talk about it and would prefer not to play it.

Shouldn't give CSU fans the time of day.

Beat their ass, ho hum, play the contract out and be done with them.

CSU Rams? More like the CSU chihuahua's.

Ugh, I hate when people say this. EVERY team improves from week 1 to week 2. It's not like we are going to somehow get better between week 1 and 2, while every other team in the country will get worse. If we lose to CSU I'm going to be very worried about this coaching staff. I'm not expecting a bowl game or anything, (I'd be ok with 2 or 3 wins) but losing to such a ****** team would be a very bad sign.

We were 1-2 plays away from winning last year's game on our worst season ever. Powell was not the running back last year for that game. Add in PRich and a coach who knows how to beat csu and I am suddenly not worried. Order will be restored on Sept 1st. "Silence of the Lambs" will occur early in the 4th qtr when they start leaving the stadium.

This game will be our first glimpse, really, of what MM and his staff can do. Face it, we haven't had a "real," apologies to Embree, coaching staff here since GB. Can MM and his staff "coach 'em up?" This game will give us our first hint.

Why would you apologize to Embree?

If McElwain turns CSU around, then this kid won't be seeing him for then next 5 years.

This is the problem, kids need to pick based on the school because the vast majority of coaches won't be there for their 5 year career.

Who cares about CSewe. This is a no-win game for CU that should be on the schedule once every five years AT BEST.

Let them talk since they won the last game. After we beat the Rams, we will be able to trash 'em like a monsoon with buffalo dung instead of actual rain.

Who cares - we need to worry about our sorry program more than CSU at this point

Even if we beat them, which I'm not sure we will, they will still talk about 2012 or the year they beat us in Folsom. That's why I hate this game.

Sigh. I'll spell it out for you since you didn't seem to get my point.

1. MM and staff are coaching CU for the first time EVER, so this will be their first live action and thus there will be a lot steeper learning curve for them to adjust to versus teams who can do the normal improvement from week 1 to week 2 under already established coaching staffs.

2. The reason I say that week 2 or 3 would be different is because not only are the first time kinks worked out, but also because teams that have a talent advantage have started to find their groove and are much less likely to be upset by an inferior opponent as that talent advantage is now becoming more significant. This is why you see way more "big" upsets in the first weekend every year, but many less of these upsets afterwards.

As for doubting this coaching staff if they lose to CSU. You serious Clark? Nobody in their right mind can judge MM and staff based on a sample of their first and only game at Colorado.

Especially a "rivalry" game where the other team will play probably their best, but still ******, game of football of the year.

It wasn't hard to put down one ewe fan...he had a photo that said "MISS ME" with Hawkins in it and I reminded that ewe fan that Hawkins went 3-2 against the ewes. Then that ewe fan had dirty hippies as the title for CU...I reminded him that those dirty hippies have done a better job supporting their team than the ewe fans in Ft. Collins.

Too easy to put the ewes down.
