CU and the Pac 12 have reached an agreement on what share they´ll get from the Pac 12 TV money this season, although Scott says it´s well short of what we´d have made in the Big 12. Originally, it seems we weren´t due to receive anything, but the $25m from Fox for the CCG changed that.

Also, a decision on the Cal game is expected in the next 7-10 days. Cal wants to play that game.

we should play it, that will be a huge draw at folsom and we need the cash.

I bet they do. I also bet that they wouldn't had the scores been flipflopped.

I want to play that game. Cal is a much worse team on the road, CU will be drastically better this year, and CU is better at home. Let's play Cal. Cal will lose that game.

But then again, I just watched a bunch of Coach Emburito talking about the recruits, his philosphy, and quite honestly, I want to strap the pads back on and go hit the field right now. What a huge difference from the zen bull****.

Holy **** I cannot wait for the fall now.

No way in hell would I play that Cal game. Colorado needs to get bowl eligible next year, any way possible.

Playing 13 games means the Buffs must win SEVEN (7) games to reach bowl eligibility.

no problem. hawaii sucks. csu sucks. TBA really sucks. they dont even have a team. tOSU sucks and are due for an upset. wsu sucks. u-dub sucks. asu sucks. zona sucks. ucla sucks. utah sucks.

I would be surprised if Cal still isn't just posturing for cash. They don't want to play a real team on the road that is for sure (Although based on our performance last year I am sure they are not too scared of us).

I would not mind playing them. No way we come out as soft as we did last year now that the game will be at home and Embo will be coaching.

This. I dont think you guys realize how important it is that we make a bowl game next year.

That is true. That game was a complete disaster and there is no way it goes as bad for us again. That said, I think a nice little game against some ****astic team would be better. I normally am all for scheduling tough ooc opponents, but it is critical that we have a good season next year. We need to get to a bowl game and win it. I think we'll have enough opportunities to prove ourself to those cali recruits in conference.

Cal is completely broke and paying to get out of this game will not fly in the current environment. They just announced that they are cutting baseball, rugby, and two other sports that they cannot afford. Paying CU a bunch of money to get out of this game is not an option for them. Either we need to bite the bullet and let them off the hook (Bohn will get heat for this given last years Toledo debacle), or we need to sack up and win this ****ing game.

I'd rather have a patsy too, but it seems to me we may be just as broke.

Wouldn't Cal be the only team that would have to pay to break the home and home contract? I thought that Cal would have to pay even if we mutually agreed not to have this game.

BTW: I agree that an easier team in this slot would be in our best interests (assuming we dont have to pay any penalties to do so).

Cal is not going to pay to get out of this game.

That's what excites me most about the new coaches. It isn't their CU connections, it is the fact that they will bring back tough, hard-nosed football to CU. The "we're gonna run it now, try and stop us" football CU used to play in the 90s and early 00s.

It seems like the better choice is to have Cal, CU, and the P12 all agree that we'll get an extra home game against Cal sometime in the future. They could do it so that it occurs in a season that Cal would have had 5 home and 4 road conference games and we were scheduled to be one of the home games. No penalties, CU still gets the extra revenue (albeit sometime in the future), and CU can then use the open spot this year to schedule a patsy.

The concern is that we are so cash strapped this year that we absolutely have to have the revenue from an additional sell-out home game immediately. On the other side of the coin, if CU picks up an extra win against a patsy in the OOC, it's less likely that we'll have such a bad record that fans don't turn out for late season in-conference home games.

Tough to say.

Are any craptastic teams available on that date? If they are, just let Cal out and schedule a guaranteed W. Like everyone else has said, CU needs a bowl next year in the worst way.

It seems like the major hangup is Cal having to schedule a home game in their temporary stadium on that date, and the notion of goodwill towards a new conference partner in inconveniencing them to have to do that. The Pac 12 made a mistake when it didn't put Cal on CU's 2011 conference schedule and make this date an early conference game - then CU could have scheduled Portland State or someone on a date in the middle of the season. Awkward, but it would have solved the problem.

Regardless, we need to get out of this game and schedule Portland State or someone else, our schedule needs to be taken down a notch in 2011. I don't think we'll be able to because of worry over rocking our new boat.

I do think the game is winnable judging on how terrible Cal was away from home last year. But the program needs early success next year, and this game is a toss up.

Had we laid the smack down on Cal, they would have dropped out of this game. They only want it because they think it'll be an easy win. **** them. I don't want a patsy and a sure win. I want Cal and I want Embree & crew to beat the crap out of the Bears. Bring 'em into to Folsom, sell the place out and knock them around. Put the rest of the Pac on notice that CU under Embree is 180 degree change from CU under Hawk.

Wasn´t Portland State rumored to be one of the replacement teams?

if our Buffs beat hell out of cal at folsom, we'll all be rejoicing that they played the game. if they lose, people throughout the webosphere will be screaming that bohn should have found a different opponent.

If CU plays 12 games, 6 wins gets them to a bowl. If CU plays 13 games, they need 7 wins to make a bowl.

As fragile as this team is right now, they need that 13th game to be an automatic W.
Anyone, anywhere anytime. I'm not quite as concerned about a bowl game in a new regime's first year as much as instilling a new attitude.

They've got to get some momentum on the field to help out recruiting. I think a bowl game is critical right now.

They need to win and get to a bowl game if we are ever going to compete with the Pac 10 schools in recruiting. While we might all think that Bieniemy and Embree and everybody will be amazing recruiters - it is going to be very difficult to sell kids on a team with 5 straight years of losing records.

Getting wins and getting to a bowl game should be more important than anything, right now.

I disagree. Good fundamental football, a specific team direction, good coaching and consistently building reputation with HS coaches are more important to me than winning now. Changing attitude is the biggest need in the program to me.
