Last night....the moment it all changed....

I'll keep this short and sweet. To those who saw no positive in last nights loss, F off, you are a moron. Now, to the obvious intelligent CU football fans....last night was a huge stride in the right direction. Did we lose? yes. Did we lose by double digits? yes. But we showed more heart and passion than we have shown in years. Moral victories are real....to hang as long as they did, against a T25 team in the country, builds confidence. For me though, it ALL changed when Sefo took the late hit and the whole O-line came running to his rescue. That moment in last nights game showed me more about this team than any other moment. Back to sleep all.
 
Amen brother. Good things are ahead. I have seen progress, and that was about the best we could hope for with the speed/talent disparity we have with anyone else in the conference.
 
I think I might have mentioned before the game that I was sick of the pussyfooting around by the team, and that I wanted to see some attitude and hits, even if they were late hits. I will take some penalties if the team starts learning how to be badass nasty honey badgers.
 
F'ing loved it. Would they have done that for Webb? Wood? I'm not too sure, but it doesn't matter anyway. The OL was playing with pride.
 
Is it sad that we lost by 22 points and saw improvement? Probably,yes. But we did. We are still far from being good but at least we are going in the right direction. Last years' team might only have 1 win this year. It will take patience but we are getting better.

:yeahthat: Its a process to recover from four years of just horrible coaching (LunchPail's last two and WB's only two) and we're seeing the progress in the mindset of the players; a very encouraging sign!

Is the self-interview already lame but asking yourself obvious questions extremely lame? yes
 
I had the same thought when I saw that play. First of all Sefo jumped up and got in Barr's face. An NFL prospect at LB and a very large man. Sefo should some grit after that hit, then when the O-line all came sprinting back to protect their QB, that was the most passion I have seen from this team in a long time. CU used to be about the team. All the guys were one family. We refused to play a game during the Jim Crow days if the other team didn't let a player stay at the team hotel. About time we saw some pride and some fight in our boys.
 
A lot of players were seen to play with an attitude. It looks like the "ho hum, just go through the motions" type of play is disappearing. I sure hope so. It's pretty clear that the Buffs opponents have expected an easy beat down where the Buffs quickly go flat, lose any fight, and just accept defeat early in the game. The Buffs played with an attitude that UCLA did not expect. They started playing dirty when the Buffs were obviously not going to accept a beatdown.

It did look like they were trying to hurt sefo on some of those hits. Thats ok, I want that "us against the world" mentality. It is that attitude that could easily endear certain recruits when they visit, and it builds a great team chemistry if handled correctly.
 
First game that the Buffs have played for each other... as a team. That Oline may not have the overall talent to match up against PAC Dlines, but they are gelling and I anticipate we will see this improve more over the next few games. A real running game will make all the difference getting over the hump and back to respectability.
 
I think pow pow is finally figuring out how to run again. Last year he was a surprise, this year everyone knows and he is getting lots of attention. Starting to really run with some attitude and some authority again. I will be glad to have Adkins back though. They will be a dynamic 1 2 punch next year.
 
Props to this thread.

There was a lot of good attitude in that game, from PRich tossing a UCLA player to Pow Pow's run deep in UCLA territory, but absolutely the best thing coming out of that game was the OL willing to throw down for Sefo. I don't know if it's going to matter again this year, but the OL is actually starting to not suck.
 
I forgot about the toss for a moment....even funnier, PRich had the picture of the toss as his Twitter Avi shortly after the game was over. The kids are playing with heart, and they were not playing with heart the previous years. The talent gap is huge with who they are playing. Hopefully this attitude carries over into Washington, not expecting a win, but playing with passion week after week is a positive step.
 
When did the late hit by Barr happen? Didn't watch the game but recorded and want to go back and watch.
 
May have been early fourth...they were driving left to right on your screen, it was apparent when the lineman fell coming to the near side of the field blocking a screen I believe, turned and saw Sefo in an argument, got up and sprinted back to the scrum.
 
On that same play, Nembot was running his ass off and threw a block downfield, then turned around to head back to his QB...His block wasn't text book if I recall but the dude is moving and hustling...glad to see it.

Also, I was glad to NOT see a bunch of lineman standing around watching as CUs QB got pummeled over and over.
 
I've been a college coach for over 10 years and a classic expression is that, "you can't make chicken salad out of chicken @*&$". I like the new coaching staff and think they will get it done if they are given 2-3 years. The players have bought in and are fighting as hard as they can. In Pac 12 they are mismatched against bigger, stronger and FASTER players. Yet, some of these forum fans don't remember to use that when they evaluate the coaching staff. This team has done much better with a lot of the same players that Embro had.

I've been a life long buff supporter and went to games for 20 years when I lived in CO. I still remember getting autographs at the YMCA in Boulder when the team won the National Championship in 1990! That group of players is what Oregon has now. Fast, big, athletic.

Be a supporter of this team and the men that are trying to get it better. I'd giving anything to go to a game in Boulder, but I moved to CA for work. If you live in Boulder and are a fan, than act like one and support this team through thick and thin!
 
While I agree with a lot of what you say EDUB, I must say, that as a fan, it would be tough to continue showing up to these games year after year to watch them get demolished. I for one live in Maryland, and made the trip back to Boulder once a year for a game from 2001 - 2010. Next weekend will be my first trip back to Boulder since the Georgia game in 2010. It's tough to continue making the trip with what all has gone on. The Hawk debacle...the Embree joke....etc, but I decided a couple weeks ago it was time to come back and show support. I also agree that this staff has done more with the team, but I must ask, what is our record this year if P-Rich is out? Because minus him, I don't see 3 wins. The biggest strides to me are in the heart, passion, discipline, hunger and other intangible's.
 
Its called building a culture....and for HCMM it is gonna take time but can already see the plan taking shape...now getting better talent is next
 
This is what we have been waiting for. Guys who go out on the field and perform as leaders ( sefo, prich) while establishing an attitude that they are going to punch you in the mouth.
