Someone please post Benson's. They seem to have hidden it fairly well on his webpage.

Now is the time to write these guys and get your voice heard (and probably quickly ignored).

Just a few weeks ago I think Benson was quoted as saying something along the lines that he has not heard from anyone upset with what is happening. If they go the next week thinking this trainwreck is OK then for sure nothing will happen.

The calls are getting louder. Keep up the message to the administration, and write them if you haven't already. A blowout loss to Utah in front of crickets will be the biggest argument, but they need to hear us as well.

How come Governor John Hickenlooper's address isn't posted?

This does concern the reputation of his state's flagship university.

The just maybe Bruce Benson might not ignore a little nudge from the Gov'ner.

Here is my letter:

Mike -

We had communicated several years ago about the state of the football program. I had offered my support when things got off to a very slow start under Hawkins. I suggested to you at the time that you should emulate the University of Texas in building up the CU football program, recognizing, of course, that CU does not have the same resources at its disposal. My point was that it was critical to reach out to the the passive alums spread throughout the country, and a way to do that was by rebuilding the football program to the point where we can stand up and be proud. Contributions would start to flow into the program and the university would directly benefit in terms of athletics and academics. As you know, a successful football program provides enormous benefits to academics in terms of both revenue, increased applications, and national brand recognition. You stated your full endorsement with my comments at the time, and said that it was precisely your plan of action.

Well, the state of the program today is so far worse than it was when we last communicated. CU football is beyond the point of being a national laughing stock....it is completely irrelevant. I live in Texas, and it is embarrassing for me to say that I am a Buff to my football friends. This weekend, I ran into a USC parent who described parents' day this year at USC. He mentioned that the weekend was fine, but the Trojans played against the worst team he had ever seen (and he could not remember who USC had played). My Buff hat did nothing to help him remember the irrelevant team that USC played that day.

So what are your next steps? It may be too late to ever return the CU football program to where it once was, I hate to say. We are so far behind the curve in facilities. Our team is arguably the worst performing in the history of CU football (I should know...I was a student in the Fairbanks era). And, there is no way we can recruit to dig ourselves out of this hole with the current staff.

So, will please let me know what, if anything, you plan to do to fix our dilemma?

Thanks.

2012: Buffs in the Media
SB Nation: "Colorado 'football' is the worst football"
"If you think your team is bad, just take a look at Colorado. You'll feel better."
"Colorado upped the derp. It upped the derp to levels that can probably not be reached again."
"Everything is awful, and this has to be a new, ridiculous low."

Dr. Saturday Facebook:

Could Colorado get the Temple treatment and get asked to leave the Pac-12 Conference? I don't think I've ever seen a team more overmatched week in and week out (except for Washington State weekend).

Every Day Should Be Saturday:
"Nobody does incompetence quite like the Buffs this year, who produced a 53% Spike Factor on only 43 offensive plays. That's efficiency you won't find anywhere else, and we appreciate it. The Earth only has so many sacks and fumbles left, and we have to conserve them by getting off the field as quickly and fruitlessly as possible. Way to be green, Colorado."

Deadspin:
"USC 50, Colorado 6: If you were not aware that Colorado is one of the nation's worst FBS teams this year, I have bad news: You are only a figment of someone's imagination and not a real person. There are coma wards where everyone knows that Colorado is garbage. The Buffaloes didn't need to get trounced by USC for people to realize it, but let's take notice of fourth-quarter plays from Saturday anyway

  • USC's seventh passing score sets the record for most ever allowed in a game by Colorado. A sad moment for the previous record holder, the 2011 USC Trojans.
  • No team has ever hung a higher completion percentage on a Buffs defense. The previous record of 91.7 percent was set by Missouri in 1983.
  • 2012 Colorado football—reaching all-time levels of suck!"

Last week: 13
Result: Lost at Arizona 56-31

Comment: Buffs have allowed 40+ points six weeks in a row. Without having checked the books, I have to think that’s a standard for ineptitude that not even the early-Wulff-era Cougs matched.

UPS Team Performance Index: (last in offense and defense..by a lot):

"They looked dead," Washington safety Justin Glenn said of the Buffs. "Cody (Bruns) and I were talking about that because we've been there. I think back to our freshman year (0-12), and you just don't have hope. Coming into the game, it's just not the same. It feels great to be on the opposite end of that."

Ten Worst Plays of Jon Embree:
http://www.allbuffs.com/showthread.php/82352-Ten-Worst-plays-of-Jon-Embree

Coaches Hot Seat:
Colorado looks to us to be one of the…
Weakest Strength Wise
AND
Out-of-Shape
….not to mention slowest BCS-level football teams we have seen in years and in watching the sidelines in the Stanford – Colorado game very closely we don’t really see a football team as much as we see a lot of unfocused players and coaches that really don’t know what the Hell they want to do with their football team.
we are just going to tell it like it is to Colorado head coach Jon Embree:
1. YOUR football team is WEAK and OUT-OF-SHAPE and VERY DAMN SLOW
2. YOU do not have the players to run the offensive scheme YOUR team is now trying to run
3. It would be better if Colorado football ran the ball more on offense but YOUR offensive line is so WEAK they couldn’t block the Sisters of the Poor’s defensive line
4. The Colorado defensive players are out-of-position on almost EVERY PLAY of the game and thus that is why YOUR football team gives up so many plays
5. YOUR team is NOT motivated enough and NOT tough enough to play in the Pac-12 Conference….PERIOD.
Hell, if not for a miracle last second win over Mike Leach’s hapless Washington State team which is filled with LOSERS that we would not hire to mow our lawns the Colorado Buffs would NOT HAVE WON A GAME in 2012 and in our opinion a very good case can be made that the 2012 Colorado football team is…
WORSE
…than the 2011 Colorado football in Jon Embree’s first season which went 3 – 10 and beat….
Colorado State (LOST TO in 2012)
Arizona (PLAYS in Tucson on Saturday)
Utah (Plays at home on November 23)

…which means that Colorado football is going backwards right now.
The BIG difference between the mid-1980s and 2012 is that college football in general and especially in the Pac-12 conference is played on a MUCH HIGHER level than it was when Bill McCartney rebuilt the Colorado football program in the Big Eight Conference and thus why it is going to take a herculean effort by Embree or someone else just to make CU football even competitive in the Pac-12 Conference forget about winning conference titles and championships.
Just considering the Pac-12 Conference do the folks in Boulder believe that….
Arizona football is going backwards under Rich Rodriguez?
UCLA football will not keep improving under Jim Mora?
Arizona State is going to lay down with Todd Graham now in Tempe?
Kyle Whittingham is going to tolerate much more losing at Utah?
USC is going to let their football program slip that much more under Lane Kiffin?
Oregon is going anywhere but staying on the top of college football?
Mike Riley will allow Oregon State to slip-up again?
Washington will allow their football program to fall anymore?
California football is satisfied with Mediocrity under Jeff Tedford?
Mike Leach won’t turn around Washington State?
Stanford will allow their football program to fall off by much after the Harbaugh – Luck days?
Colorado football must NOT ONLY be rebuilt from the ground-up it will have to become BETTER than a majority of the above Pac-12 teams just to become…
MEDIOCRE
…and to become a .500 and “bowl-eligible” team each season and since Colorado football is LOSING by and average of…
30 Points A Game
…right now and has LOST TO….
THREE TEAMS
…in 2012 that have First Year Head Coaches in Colorado State, Fresno State and UCLA with the LOSSES to Fresno State and UCLA being blowouts then we are not talking about a “climb” to rebuild Colorado football but…..
MASSIVE MOUNTAINS
….that CU and Jon Embree will have to cross just to get to the MEDIOCRE LEVEL in I-A (FBS) football which brings us back to the FACT that right now Colorado football is just a…
Little Above Average I-AA (FCS) Football Program
….and is playing in one of the toughest I-A (FBS) football leagues in the country in the Pac-12 Conference.
Until the Colorado football team is…
IN SHAPE
AND
MUCH STRONGER
….along with becoming MUCH FASTER as well Colorado football has little hope of beating Arizona or anyone else in the near future.
At Arizona on Saturday will be a tough game for Colorado, but the last two games of the year at home in Boulder against Washington and Utah which are only average or below average teams in the Pac-12 in 2012 will say a HELLUVA lot about where the Colorado football program is going and IF Colorado loses its last three games to finish at…
1 – 11
…in 2012 then Colorado President Bruce Benson will have to do a lot of serious thinking about where the CU football AND athletics program is going right now and if faltering Colorado football program could become a liability that could hurt both athletics department and for the entire University of Colorado as well.
If Jon Embree does return for the 2013 season we here at Coaches Hot Seat would be more than happy to take the Colorado football team to our own “Junction” come next fall camp up in the High Rocky Mountains where we would separate the strong from the weak among the Buffs and one thing for Damn sure the Colorado football team that returned to Boulder a week before CU’s first game of the 2013 football season would be made-up of MEN that would fight the opposing teams EVERY second of EVERY game instead of that pitiful and disgraceful Colorado team on Saturday that just…
Flat-Out QUIT
Coach Hard Jon Embree like your job and your assistants jobs are on the line..
BECAUSE THEY ARE
AND
BECAUSE THEY SHOULD BE
PERIOD.

Guys, I think keeping it to one paragraph of 3-4 sentences is all that is needed. They are going to skip most if not all of it, especially if they see a long story that is written from the heart.

The key things you need to convey:

You are a season ticket holder or put some sort of money into the school and you are now withholding that until there is improvement.

Don't make the same mistake that they made with Hawkins in keeping him that extra year. We already have the answer.

The time to move is now! Not several weeks after the season when they do the math and figure out how much of a disaster this season was.

Anyone have any luck with that Benson address? I imagine it would be a first.lastname@colorado.edu but have not seen it anywhere.

lol at expecting to get a response from Joe Neguse

And Tillie Bishop didn't run for re-election. At this point he's just finishing out his term before Glenn Gallegos takes over in January. And he hasn't been in the best of health the last few years. I wouldn't really expect him to get involved in a campaign like this at this point...

I just sent my One More Time Email to all of the Regents with the spelling corrected. I copied MB, BB and PD. Let's keep the pressure up. It appears there is a window open to total change, no matter how small the opening is, lets get our message across.

Just got an email from Regent Tillie Bishop who also copied all of the regents, MB, BB and PD. Quote, Brad said it and I agree. We are having an impact and I believe the window is open for change. Keep up the pressure.

Here's what I sent for what it's worth...

Dear Regents,

As a CU football season ticket holder, alumn, and proponent of the University, I am appalled at the current state of the University football program. It is one thing to struggle and be in 'rebuilding' mode, but it is another to be the 'worst' of over 120 Division I teams and a running national joke. The damage to the University's 'brand' is far-reaching and goes beyond football and sports. Like it or not in today's world a strong athletic program, especially in the revenue rich football realm can help drive applications and boost national appeal for colleges and universities. The negativity surrounding the program is palpable. I will no longer be able to support the AD unless drastic changes are made after this season concludes. We can't afford to have another season like the one we have all just witnessed. Keeping the prior head coach Hawkins an extra year too long already put us in a deep hole. Please do what we all know is required and demand that the AD Bohn replace the entire current coaching staff with an experienced program builder that can hire creative and experienced coordinators that have the national appeal to immediately boost recruiting or it may be too late to repair the damage and restore the image of the University and our legacy on the gridiron. We all know Jon Embree is a great Buff and means well but it is clear to all he is in over his head.

Sincerely,

Bruce Benson Direct Email

OfficeOfThePresident@cu.edu

I've had back and forth email conversations with him over the past month and he is clueless. He seems to think no one is angry. Tell him otherwise but don't waste your breath explaining anything. Keep it simple, no more money in donations and your experience with what this is doing to our reputation as a university.

It all comes back to him ignoring athletics so if you can make him squirm, something might just happen.

You might notice this is my first post. That's how much I believe that without intervention from the fan base nothing will change.

I just receivd a response from Tillie Bishop and Michael Carigan. Both included all the other regents as well as Benson, Dr. Phil, and MB.

Bishop's was short and to the point, and not necessarily a response to me. It was as if he wanted to make sure others read it.

Carigan's seemed more like a form letter, but at least I got a response.

Anyone else get an auto response from Wynn Pericak when you include Benson in an email?

Here is the letter I just sent to Bohn:

Mr. Bohn,

I know you’re hearing from everyone and their mother this week on the matter, so I’ll keep this as brief as possible. I’m sending this message to you because I respect what you’ve done for CU. My little sister just graduated and played in the band for 4 years, I very much appreciate your support of her and the band. Your hire of Tad Boyle was a homerun! He is a great game day coach who brings the high level of leadership and mentoring needed to run a successful program. We need that kind of hire for the football program.

As a lifelong Buff fan who grew up in Colorado, it hurts to watch a program I love struggle through such a dark period. The kind of football being played on Saturday’s is the worst I’ve ever seen. It is obvious that players are unprepared and show little heart on the field. I believe those issues are caused by poor leadership from the coaching staff. I wasn’t against the hiring of Embree because of his CU ties. The hire gave people nostalgic warm-fuzzies and made us believe we were on the right path back to national relevance. But after just two years, the on-field performance which is last in offense and defense out of 120 division one teams is inexcusable. We haven’t exactly recruited top 25 classes for the past 5 years, but we haven’t brought in the 120[SUP]th[/SUP] ranked ones either! This amount of failure and lack of progress simply cannot be tolerated. I fear that if Embree is given another year, that our program will be set back even further which will make it that much harder to come back from. As a young business person, I would sure like to donate some of my money and purchase season tickets to support a program that I believe in!

The program is broken. It’s time for major surgery, not Band-Aids.

Thanks for your time and I wish you the best of luck!
