Leading Scorers Next Year

I'd put my money on Adams or Brown. Could see them each putting up 15-18 a game with Roberson chipping in 13-15 of his own.

What do you guys think?

Overall it should easily be Brown. At the same time this could and should be one of those teams with a different leading scorer from game to game. Brown one night, Adams the next, Robinson getting in on it occassionally, etc.

It won't be one of those teams that opponents can plan on shutting one guy down and having the Buffs under control.

Dark horse candidate: Askia Booker. He's going to be instant offense off of the bench.

But if I had to put money down, it'd be Brown & Roberson.

I don't think he's going to get the minutes needed. If it isn't Brown, we're probably in trouble.

I put money on Brown and Adams. RumblinBuff - why do you think we'll be in TROUBLE if it isn't Brown? From what little I know of his game, he's a slasher/driver, and not the best shooter. Adams seems to be a decent shooter with some decent athleticism. I for one hope it's Adams, because I have a slight fear that Brown will be a ball hog at times.

Carlon was brought in specifically to fill the scoring gap left by Cory (Al's departure only increased our need for him). He is a proven scorer, and of all our scoring options headed into the season, he's the one I feel most confident in projecting.

Essentially, I assume that if he's not the leading scorer, then something went terribly wrong with him (performance fail/injuries), and I have a hard time projecting success with out him having big performances night in night out (15+ points). If Carlon drops 15/night, yet gets outpaced by Adams, 'Dre, Dinwiddie, etc, then we'd be just fine.

We can take double figure scoring from Carlon Brown to the bank. Maybe that will be enough if Dre can average 10-12 and we've got a handful of other guys capable of going off on any given night.

I'm predicting 6-10 in conference play this season. We need to be at least 8-4 at the close of non-conference play to be thinking post-season, imo.

Brown is the only proven scorer. reasonable to expect Dre's numbers to improve. i'd still like to fantasize that Dufault is capable of 10 and 8 type numbers in the post, night in and out. not the sometimes assertive, sometimes passive play we've seen so much. now's the time AD.

i still maintain this team will have some nights where putting the ball in the basket is pretty tough. trouble scoring the rock, esp on the road.

I think 7 and 4 is a more realistic hope for Austin. He does have nights he can score 20, though. Really depends on matchups with him.

i said "fantasize" not "realistic". :)

as far as matchups, maybe in the Pac he won't have to face some of the bruisers in the post (and the Big XII football type officiating). handchecks, mugging on the blocks. in a lot of ways, it's like Sampson and Eddie Sutton never left the XII. physical conference. maybe free his game up.

8 rebounds a night would be more than Dre had last season. Would have been good for second in the Big 12. I think I may need to have you start directing my fantasies. :smile2:

Carlon Brown, hope to see some of these this year
