I think Les Miles would be able to not win the big games here just as well, and with Saban's recruits, could probably head for a national championship, too. I'm in complete agreement. Since he can't get it done in LSU, he should have the chance to not get it done at Colorado, too. There's nothing wrong with aiming lower - just imagine what the competitor recruiters could say to interested high schoolers.
There is one good thing - LSU has a lot of players in the NFL. And quite a few have come thru during Miles' tenure. Isn't getting a good job after years in college what college is all about? The Les Miles Camp could make some points on that
Perhaps a more serious knock against Les is his recruiting terrain familiarity. Does CU want to go back to depending on the State Of Texas for their recruiting base, or move onto Calif? Les hasn't done so well getting Florida recruits out of there - he's losing 9-of-10 to other schools. I suppose that's not a terrible percentage considering the huge number of open-arms those recruits are greeted with, but they're also promised "visits home" because of the SEC schedule. Remove that argument from Les Miles' vast arsenal, and what's left? "Look at how beautiful this campus is - the mountains, the snow, the forests! The widdle bunny wabbits..." Uh... wanna guess how influential those factors are in a 17-year-old Miami academy recruit's life?

He'd improve this program for a number of reasons. One, fundraising for the entire department would go through the roof with a hire like that. Two, he could go get better coordinators-which isn't saying much offensively. Three, look at some of the names on his staff, especially one in particular....Ed Orgeron is down there. He's one of the best recruiters in the country.
Here's what you're getting with this hypothetical- a coach who has won a title and played for another, not to mention multiple SEC titles. That's a resume, which is something we haven't had here since Gary Barnett came back from Northwestern, and I'll take the results he got here any day. We've gone the up and coming group of five coach two of the last three searches. Hawk was a disaster and MM has done a job that can be described as adequate at best. What makes you think next year's Tom Herman/Justin Fuente/Bryan Harsin would be any different? If Miles would take this gig, it's a no brainer.
