USAFA, Colo. —Sophomore Brittany Lewis led the University of Colorado combined events athletes on Thursday at the Air Force Invitational with a fifth-place finish in the pentathlon.
Lewis recorded a score of 3,613 points and led the Buffs in four of the five events. She started off the day by running a time of 8.98 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, before throwing the shot put 31 feet, 10 inches. Lewis led CU with a leap of 18-10.75 in the long jump and ran a strong 800 in 2:26.79. She also cleared 5-1 in the high jump.
Sophomore Ewelina Pena had the best high jump for the Buffs after clearing 5-4.50. She finished 11[SUP]th[/SUP] overall with a personal best score of 3,205. Pena’s other marks were 9.67 in the 60-hurdles, 30-7.50 in the shot put, 16-4 in the long jump and 2:37.05 in the 800.
