What are you all hearing and what are your hopes for some of the players who have yet to showcase their talent in a starting role?

Offense:
KD Nixon, Chiaverini better game plan for this dudes talent. Nixon can be a game changer for us in the ilk of Tyreek Hill.

Ento, Blackout Boyz 2.0 look to have more talent, size, and speed than the previous trio and I believe Ento will play a big role with his hands and high point skills.

Defense:
Looking forward to Nate Landman getting more snaps, he looked to really come into his own as the season progressed last year and reminds me of your prototypical CU LB (maybe a less athletic Chad Brown)

Chris Miller, can he crack the DB depth chart and earn some playing time. I was excited to get this Texas recruit a year ago and look forward to seeing what he can do. Nickel, Corner, or even Safety?

Outside of the WRs, I want to see what Blackmon and George have to offer. I want to see what Landman will do as well as Van Beast.

Love guys like Bounds and JayMac. Not flashy, but reliable as heck. Feed them the ball. Would rather have more of these guys who are reliable, than dudes who are flashy but drop should-be catches.

Get what you're saying but I like players that can respond after dropping a should be catch. Make a mistake, don't dwell on it.

Who are the flashy guys who have been dropping should-be catches?

There is a role for guys like Bounds and MacIntyre. They do well in that role. But you aren't winning at this level without playmakers who can get more than what's in the play design and who can get open against the best athletes at USC.

Fields made a habit of it last year.

We had some critical drops from a lot of receivers. Bobo and Winfree in the UCLA game, Fields in the ASU game, Ross scattered throughout. That said, what about any of those guys is "flashy" or somehow contributes to the dropped passes? I can't really think of a less flashy group of WRs than ours last year.

I'm not the one who started the whole "flashy" line of thought, but I do remember Fields thinking about the endzone before securing a deep ball over the middle and he biffed it.

To be honest though, perhaps the OP just meant faster and more athletic.

Just watched the video on Mulumba. How can you not root for that guy? I was super impressed with his verbal language, he must be incredibly intelligent. And just the perseverance and maturity that he maintains is tremendous. Would love to see him wreck it in 2018!

Sorry to answer late, I used ''flashy" as a synonym for big-play ability/expectations. Was thinking of Bobo, Ross and Fields who all have big-play abilities, but weren't all that consistent in terms of effort to the end of the play to get open and dropped passes. Nothing bad about flashy players who've got some swagger, but gotta back it up with consistency in effort and basic reliability, otherwise why the swagger? imo
