Luke Falk

This guy has all the tools the NFL looks for at the QB position. Guy is legit and made throws on a dime all game long. What an amazing job our DB's did.

Feel like between him and Darnold, we have faced two of the best QB's college has to offer.

Thus is life in the Pac-12

He good. Deep ball inaccuracy was my favorite part

He was great until 4th quarter. Not sure if it was pressure from playing behind or just fatigue, but he was the best we've seen this year for 3 quarters.

I said to my buddy at one point late in the 4th, you give up 8 completions in a half against a Leach team, and your db's are doing work. Db's were/are great.

Yes. They stepped it up second half. It helped that they got more physical and stopped waiting on the refs to call the push offs.

After practice this week, Leach was asked how important mechanics are when recruiting a QB. He noted the regular keys — release, footwork — but really, it comes down to accuracy.

“It depends. You try to recruit around (throwing motions) if you can,” Leach said. “The worst thing is — people make this mistake across the country — there will be a guy that’s big, strong and athletic. If a guy’s got a super strong arm, they say, ‘All he’s got to do is work on his accuracy,’

“So he won’t be accurate in high school, some college will take him. Then he won’t be accurate there, and someone in the NFL says, ‘All he has to do is work on his accuracy,’ and they’ll take him. He won’t be accurate there, and he’ll be out of the league.”

“To me, the thing that’s amazing is after all of high school, he’s not accurate, and you’re special and will make him accurate,” Leach said. “After all of college, he’s not accurate, you’re special and will make him accurate. I haven’t seen that happen. I’ve seen guys improve, but they don’t just become accurate. They’ll get the short stuff, but that doesn’t make somebody accurate.”

Leach is a character, but the guy knows what he's looking for. Falk was throwing guys open all day, I'm not sure you can coach that or more guys would be doing it. It's just an instinct thing that makes all the difference. You can plug and play any WR when your QB is that sharp.

Falk was scary sharp in the first half, but his WRs (who are good) had some crucial drops. #1 receiver Marks flat-out dropped one in the end zone that he had against his belly. Falk will be an NFL draft pick, for sure. Credit the Buffs defense in the second half. Y'know, WSU had scored 125 points in its two prior games...

That drop very well could have been the difference in the game.

This right here is Jake Locker in a nutshell. Was so pussed when Tennessee drafted him.

He may have gotten lost in the mix while moving between high schools but this is a guy that just about anyone could have had. Even Washington State didn't think enough of him out of HS to offer him a scholarship, they did take him as a walk-on.

Leach has had a lot of QBs who looked great in the college game and were bust in the pro's. I would give Falk a good chance to break that pattern. He throws NFL type passes, is tall and solid enough, and most importantly seems to do a lot more reading and decision making that prior Leach QBs.

Falk was getting Heisman pub all week as the networks looked for someone they could use to hype the award instead of it being a boring coronation of Lamar Jackson. I'm sure that the Buffs ended that talk. They'll move on to Baker Mayfield now.

Ringer got the word right - scary. That guy is the best QB we've faced this season. If I were a pro GM, he'd be at the top of the list for QBs.

He's got the accuracy. Can he make all the throws? Also, he's coming from a very un-NFL system. I think he's high risk. My thought is that he might be the next Drew Brees but if he's not he'll probably suck. I just don't see much in between when he can't run and doesn't have the cannon arm.

I have a slightly different take on Falk. Yes, he's very good. However, when it became obvious that he would have to make perfect passes in order to get completions, I think he started pressing. He dropped some dimes yesterday that were very well defended. He also had several passes broken up. It's impossible to defend a perfect pass. But it's also really hard to be perfect on every pass attempt.

Yeah, accuracy is what I based that post on. A guy who can drop the ball into tiny windows as he did. He was very difficult to defend, especially in the first half. Def comes from a system that will scare off some teams. It'll be interesting.
