Lupoi was cleared. Would you take a chance on him?

What's the worst that can happen? We get some better prospects and even if we do get hit with sanctions we'll get there faster than "the right way." UDub is stacked and they sucked worse than we do now (although not as long, mind you, and had a very good college QB). The guy will be under an NCAA microscope too for a while.

I say get him. But of course he'll end up going to a place like Utah and snag Colorado prospects.

Yeah. I don't think he'd fit in with Mac's philosophy.
How does he not fit mac's philosophy. Seems like he would be a good addition to the staff just recruiting Cali.
I never heard anything bad about him until the allegations about paying for tutors.

Yes. He'll be walking the straight and narrow path long enough to get some upper tier recruits. Prolly wouldn't be around past the 2 - 3 year mark; I'm confident NewMac could keep him behaving that long.

As long HCMM just find 25 players a year willing to commit to CU, recruiting takes care of itself and is vastly overrated.

I thought you'd be a little more opinionated here, Tosh is an interesting study he's widely reputed to be a bad-ass recruiter but the staff's he's been on have well under-performed their talent levels. "His guys" have attrited out at very high rates relative to their in-class peers.

Attrited? I like it! Though, I would have said, "his recruits have always been very attritiony."

If he is clean and has integrity, I would hire him quick and make a spot for him. It seems overall this staff works hard and has a great eye for talent. A quality sales person (honestly and integrity required) would help us nail down more star players

Of course not. CU has no interest in recruiting with the big boys. Lip service is what we will be getting.

Honestly, I understand the drawbacks the of Lupoi. Even if we could get him, I doubt he would be a great fit.

That said, this staff has had it very easy as far as expectations go thus far. We shall see if that changes for the 2015 class.

For all the talk about hard work (and yes, I have no doubt they work extremely hard), we are on track to sign a whopping two players from Texas in this class. Zero players from the DFW Metroplex or Houston. I am not even sure we garnered serious interest from a single player in the DFW Metroplex. In-state recruiting is still hit or miss. Finally, we lost two commitments late in the process. Now what all this really means is anyone's guess, but there are questions the staff will have to answer sooner rather than later, preferably in 2015.

Can Neinas?

Sorry couldn't resist. I would take a good recruiter over Neinas in a second.

Hey, Neinas is the lead recruiter for Jay McIntyre, you want to jeopardize that just to replace him with a recruiter?? He's closing the border!

When MM was hired I pointed out Texas and the need for more.

I was blasted by people here about the Former Dallas cowboy on staff and how I'm an idiot.

So, yes, hire some top recruiters from some top states. X's and O's can make you a good non bcs team. When the competition is BCS level teams with good X& O guys on every team in the PAC(my opinion), you need some 4* speed to execute consistantly. Mac has shown good things on the field. If he recruits at this level, we will need alot of things to go right to become a bowl team.

Hope they close well tomorrow with one more surprise.

For all of Lupoi's supposed recruiting prowess, the teams he's recruited for have never really produced much on the field. Not sure if there's a connection there or not, just an observation from afar.

Excuses for recruiting:
2013: Transition. No relationship with bcs prospect
2014: No facilities. No head-start on in-state or bcs prospects due to being at SJSU
2015: Facilities not completed. Oh and a couple, "We've sucked, what do you expect a Top 5 class???"

I think you should adopt/band wagon yourself off to another school. You'd probably be happier.

Im not trying to diss you, by the way. But when your a cash strapped program who goes out and hires a string of no name coaches what did you really expect? Its a shame we didn't go out and get a big name that could instantly recruit. Wether we like it or not CU is either constantly playing football on the cheap or the football program is merely window dressing to the administration. We dont seem to want to be good. Or we dont want our precious reputation tarnished in order to become good.

Sigh... Ive been numb for at least 7 years now.

We're paying in the upper half for coaches salaries.
