Mac altercation with assistant

Mac said Tumpkin was in the wrong with how he handled the situation. Tumpkin said he was wrong with how he handled the situation. I am sure they had a meeting in the CC and shook hands and have moved on.

Apparently, they were the last coaches to leave the field. Had a long solo chat. Not professional but also nice to see a little fire out there.

Anyone see the dirty hit on Moeller that upset Tumpkin? I didn't see it live.

Game changing penalty to take but if Tumpkin was defending one of our guys, I can't be too mad.

Uhhh.... If a coach takes a game changing penalty, you have to be very mad. It is not his place to 'defend our guys.'

I saw it, I don't necessarily know if "dirty" is the right word, but it was definitely very late and the ref was looking right at it. I was shocked that there was not a flag thrown.
Oregon receiver had Moeller locked up in a run block, continued to drive him back 10 to 15 yards well after the play and finally pile-drove him into the ground.

The call/non-call is irrelevant. What Tumpkin did pissed me off. Macintyre responded appropriately by getting in his face. Theres a difference between "showing some fire" and shooting yourself in the foot (which happened numerous times last year). Want people to start taking you seriously as a program? Quit finding ways to help the other team out.

As is tradition, the last piece to the puzzle, MacIntyre's apology and explanation:

Listen, I have no issue with what happened. But didn't he say exactly the same thing, "It's not who I am", after the incident with the officials after the Oregon State game? I'd say, "Coach, this is the second time you've lost it during a game. Are you sure this isn't who you are?" I say that with a bit of a laugh because, frankly, I don't mind him getting a bit fired up.

Well technically the oregon state fiasco happened after the game.

He's coaching for his job and feeling the pressure. I guess I don't like it, because I want to know it won't happen with a player. I like the fire, but don't want Bo Pellini. I prefer fire to the tears we heard about post CSU victory. Man tears make me really uncomfortable!

This is whole lotta nothin'. Mac gets fired up during the games. Too fired up? Perhaps, but that's just the way it is.
