Mac Demeanor on sidelines

This was brought up in the game thread, but thought it needed a little more discussion. While watching the game I didn't mind the unsportsmanlike penalty. He stood up for his team and he was pissed. It wasn't to spark the team he just wasn't happy. We are human that is fine. The thing that bothered me was after that fourth down debacle his demeanor on the sidelines was way too negative for me. He was upset and I would've acted the same way, but I am not the head ball coach. I think we were all feeling the same as he was, but rally the troops and have faith that your defense will back them up or cause a turnover. Just my observation.

Seems like people were criticizing Mac2 before today for being too Gomer Pyle positive all the time.

I don't know.

I'm fine if he wears his emotions on his sleeve as long as it's genuine. He's definitely not the stoic type and that's fine. All sorts of personalities win, from Tom Landry to Dick Vermeil. Mac2's demeanor seems to be what would result if Parcells and Vermeil had a baby.

The defense forced a FG that next series, not sure what the big deal is. He gets extremely excited with a big play and jumps around after a missed opportunity, and the players seem to have responded to it.

I have no problem with his pissed offedness. He hates to lose and knows how hard these kids are working. I think he wants it more for them than himself. I'm sure of it.

I like it. We need more vocal leadership from our guys, too.

It's no mystery why you see guys like Sefo, Gillam, and Chi-bone doing the press conferences. Mac loves fire, and fortunately for our future, it's our young leaders that have it. I would love to see some seniors step up after this loss and salvage this season.

Mm lost his **** in that moment. I was behind the bench. He practically begged the ref to flag him. That wasn't the end of it. He continued to go postal on the closest official for the next ten minutes.

I've never seen him so pissed off. It isn't any big thing. That was a pivotal moment that didn't of our way. I'm sure he was hot. I was pissed too.

I will look to see if you posted your observations from the game from the people who attended. maybe make a thread?

I think we beat OSU on Sat. I will be there.

I'm guessing that what had him so hot is that it appeared that Dykes's bitching about all the flags they were getting seemed to get the lead ref to overrule the PI call to even things out, even though the Cal penalties were legit penalties.

When the refs huddled up there I kind of got the feeling the head ref asked if it was blatant or borderline, and when the guy said borderline they decide to cut Cal a break.

Since some of us weren't able to see the game, what "moment" are you referring to? What happened that got him so pissed? The disallowed fumble recovery and return?

I think they are talking about the pass interference that was flagged on Cal (on a CU third down play that would have given us 5 or 15 yards and a first down) that turned into a ref gabfest and then the refs picked up the flag and said 'Nevermind!' Then Mac lost it and we lost another 15 yards. Gave the ball back midfield.

What the hell are you doing up at 1:30 am? I went to bed a 1:30 pm, half hour before the game, woke at 3:45 and checked and saw Buffs up 28-14. Listened to the CU app and ...well, only got two hours sleep today. I work both Friday and Saturday night next weekend too, but will miss sleep and go to the game anyway. **** sleep. I want to watch this new Buff team beat OSU.

I love it, get pissed, too many years of pixie dust and unicorns around here, he was mad, so what. Give em hell MAC2!

Been having trouble sleeping lately. Plus, I had a bad fall on a trail Saturday around noon and tore the living **** out of my arm and hand. Been taking Percocet. Don't want it to sound worse than it is. Just skinned up. No bones or ligament damage or anything.

Did Mac have a point?

I was listening on the radio, so I can't say for sure. I would imagine by his reaction it was rather blatant for him to freak his **** when they picked it up. I love it though. Get pissed. Get an attitude. Get this team to build an attitude. It's what I loved about the late 80's early 90's Buffs. Tons of attitude that was backed up on the field.

I see a coach who cares about winning and cares about his team.

A lot like Tad.

Yes, it was absolutely PI. He was arm barred and had his arm pulled before the ball got there. Pivotal moment in the game when we were trying to take back momentum

From phone

It was the pi call. I couldn't see closely enough from where I was whether the call was right or not,

He was really pissed. Epic coach meltdown. No big deal. It happens.

Personally, I love it. These are the type guys that are fun to play for. They will push your ass to the limit as a player, still be there after you're done just as a person. You know he's got your back and the **** isn't fake.

Pretty much the Anti-Todd Graham.

I am glad he was animated after the 4th down debacle. That can't keep happening.

I was impressed when he was flagged for the penalty. And at the end of the game, loved seeing his disappointment, Was nice to see a HC on our sidelines who felt the ups and downs of this game. I bet the players see that passion in him.

THAT is the best post of the weekend.

Would anyone have compared to Mac2 to Tad before the season started?

But now, I think we will see more similarities between the too. It starts with passion and Mac2 has got it!

A lot like Tad.

Demeanor doesn't matter in results on the field. Mac1 was pretty calm on the sidelines, Mac2 is very demonstrative. I personally like to see the coach getting into the game...it's fun to watch!

Our head coach is no problem, some assistants, not so much. Jesus he's gonna weigh like 120 if we don't start turning this around. We'll have our chance next week. Damn but we need a conference road win in the worst way.
