Manziel was - at one point in summer 2012 - suspended for the season and JUCO bound

A&M nearly didn’t have a Heisman winner on its hands to fret over this past season, either, after he nearly transferred last summer, according to the insider and first reported by the Dallas Morning News on Tuesday evening.
Manziel was arrested in the Northgate bar district last June for fighting, failing to identify himself and possessing two fake IDs, and as a result the university arbitrarily suspended him for the football season, according to multiple insiders.
Manziel was preparing to transfer to a junior college to play immediately when the suspension was overturned on appeal midway through training camp – and the next day he was named the starting quarterback over Jameill Showers, who intends to play at UTEP this fall.
Multiple insiders said the athletic department had nothing to do with Manziel’s suspension – a suspension overturned by the dean of student life. A “status of compliance” hearing is set for July 15 concerning the arrest.

Dude is so going pro after this season. Aggie better prays he somehow makes it through the season without getting suspended.

From what I have read, Johnny football doesn't even attend classes anymore. Takes all of his courses online.
How does the University prove that Manziel is actually logged in taking the courses?

I'm just waiting for the news to come out that someone else is doing the work

Yeah, Manziel claims he cannot go to class anymore as he´s getting mugged all the time while at Texas and Auburn some former Heisman and National Championship winning NFL ROTYs returned to class this summer.

Johnny "Look at me" has some serious maturity issues. He seems like such a little punk. It would benefit him greatly to graduate before going pro. He is bound to flame out with this attitude.

Not that I don't believe that aTm is a cheating machine, how does any university prove that a student is actually taking the online class themselves? Some make you go take proctored exams but quite a few don't.

I wouldn´t want to be tasked with keeping him eligible. And I know $EC teams can be creative when it comes to keeping players eligible.

Manziel may not be lying on that part, I mean, A&M is that weird.

How do you go from being suspended the whole season to seemingly facing no punishment at all. #SEC?

Texas A&M got busted for cheating in the late days of the old SWC...doesn't anyone notice the difference between the sWc and sEc?

Online classes. Katoa made up about 2.5 years of high school in 6 months taking online classes thru BYU extension.......... Sure he did.

Prediction: he'll die in a meth deal gone bad by 2026, right after paroling from a lengthy prison sentence for sexually assaulting one of the NY Jets trainer assistants.

Talented and aggresive representation. My experience is that for due process purposes, many schools have very strong procedure requirements for suspension. If he was not prosecuted and had "corroboration" for his side of the story, it would follow that the school could do little as far as punishment. Honestly, when I was prosecuting, I always had a suspicion that a great majority of the accused represented a tiny percentage of wrong-doers too stupid to adequately plan.

Problem for Manziel is he doesn't have great professional prospects. He isn't quite so low potential wise as Tebow, but he isn't much better. I see him having a Ryan Leaf like future, minus being the 2nd pick in the draft.

He seems to be pretty full of himself. Maybe this is just too much for a kid his age. But maybe he pulls a Geno Smith come draft time.

Katoa, a geology major known for his concrete ideas, was planning on studying abroad in Iraq. He had a summer job lined up laying down asphalt. He was also in a stoner rock band primarily influenced by Pavement.
