It's a light week in quantity but certainly not quality of matches as the 6-0 Buff soccer team heads off to Tallahassee to face the defending national champion and current #6 ranked Seminoles.

BOULDER – The peak of celebrity is when a person has hit one-name status. Cher. Madonna. Adele. Beyoncé. For one Colorado soccer player, who has three names, it's just Roo that is catching on.

CU midfielder Roo Yarnell-Williams has exploded on the scene this fall for Danny Sanchez and the Buffaloes. The freshman, whose given game is Aurora, has scored three goals in her first six collegiate games and is currently second on the team with six points.
...

Colorado fans could be witnessing the rise of another star, while in the same season watching another's successful career wind down. Senior Taylor Kornieck, who has made a compelling case to be called one of the best in CU soccer history, had a similar start to her freshman season. Kornieck also had three goals in her first six games. She finished the 2016 season second on the team with 26 points (11 G, 4 A).

Having the opportunity to play one season with Kornieck is not something that has gone unnoticed from Yarnell-Williams, picking up bits and pieces from the seasoned veteran.

"I've learned to listen better," Yarnell-Williams explained. "I've learned to listen and not get in your head, not think that you're right all the time and accept information if somebody tells you what you need to do and grow from it."

Yarnell-Williams and the No. 24 Buffs head to Tallahassee, Fla., on Thursday for the team's first road-test. Colorado will take on defending national champion Florida State at 5 p.m. MT on the ACC Network.

Looks like it is being televised on the AAC Network for those with a subscription, and on WatchESPN at https://www.espn.com/watch/?id=0bd3872f-a4dc-4e76-b50b-b8ee729dca09 .

Stats so far are kind of scary. FSU has 7 shots (5 on goal) in the first 20’. Sounds like JJ has her work cut out for her today.

Just started to watch. Looks like the 2nd half should start soon-
  • Their commentators said they didn't see any contact on the foul call that led to Florida State's goal on a penalty kick.
  • Looks like Asst. Jason Green received a red card at some point..

And the Buffs give up a 2nd penalty kick goal; again the announcers say they didn't see a foul. It's 1-2 fsu.

That was a ripoff. Both Florida PKs were phantom calls and CU should have won 2-0. Fl St was the better team. CU has got to possess the ball more. They probably gave up around 30 shots tonight and many on goal.

Note - freshman forrward Roo Williams evidently went out with some injury in the 1st half, and never returned into the match. I think I saw some Buff on crutches- don't know if it was her. In any case, hopefully nothing serious.

She landed on her ankle wrong and was in a boot. Weiner has been in a boot and might be the other with crutches but Too had to be carried off. Do not know how serious but she will probably miss some games
