In a match that it was just announced is being moved from Saturday to Thursday at noon due to the forecasted frigidly cold weather on the weekend, Buff soccer is scheduled to have its 2nd match of the season hosting the Bears at Prentup Field.

This will be the Bears 1st match of the year, with the only result showing in their schedule being a 0-4 score against DU in an exhibition match on January 31st. In the Buffs' 1st match this past Saturday, they defeated DU 1-0 with a DU own goal in the 1st overtime period. I'm sure the Buffs wouldn't mind a repeat of the offensive performances they had against the Bears last season, as both of CU's largest scoring efforts last year were against UNC (4-0 in the regular season and 6-0 in the 1st round of the NCAA Tourney).

No preview article out yet. Here's the article announcing the schedule change-

BOULDER – The scheduled match between Colorado and Northern Colorado, originally set for Saturday, Feb. 13, has been moved up two days to Thursday, Feb. 11.

Kickoff is still set for noon at Prentup Field.

The two teams decided to move the match to avoid the anticipated snow and frigid temperatures in the forecast for Saturday.

BOULDER – The state of Colorado is known for its 300 days of sunshine, but this coming Saturday looked like it was going to be one of the rare off days.

The Colorado soccer team, coming off a 1-0 OT win over Denver last Saturday, was all set to have another Saturday showdown this week against in-state foe Northern Colorado.

The weather forecast had other ideas.

Now, instead of a full week of preparation, the Buffs will take on the Bears on Thursday, moving the game ahead two days to avoid any weather-related issues.

"Obviously, there was a weather issue," head coach Danny Sanchez noted. "Everyone knows that Colorado can get those 20-30-degree temperature swings. With Greeley being about an hour away, UNC was very accommodating to move the match. The weather looks really good for Thursday and we are excited to battle with the Bears again."
...

"We have a lot of respect for Tim [Barrera] and his program," Sanchez added. "They are in the NCAA Tournament almost every other year. They are pretty much the favorite this year in the Big Sky. They played DU in a scrimmage, but we will be their first game before they get into conference play. They have a lot of good returning players lead by [Lindsi] Jennings in the back. Maddie Barkow was the Defensive Player of the Year in the Big Sky. They are really solid on defense and in goal."

CU owns a 10-0-0 record against the Bears. The Buffs have yet to yield a goal to UNC in the series history that dates back to 1996.

"I think you can throw whatever happened last year out the window," Sanchez continued. "It might as well have not happened. I think Tim and the UNC players look at these games with they've got nothing to lose. We have to bring the same energy and focus that we brought in the NCAA Tournament. We are still chomping at the bit. This is only our second game in 15 months. I expect a really good game against two good teams that are going to come out and play good soccer."

Thursday's game is set for a noon kickoff at Prentup Field.

The public is still prohibited. Only ticketed player guests will be allowed in attendance at this time. The match will be streamed online at CUBuffs.com/WatchSoc.

Heh. I actually caught about five minutes of UNCs exhibition match against DU while doing a self guided campus tour at DU with my family.
DU has a really nice campus, by the way.

GOOAAALLL Buffs as Sharts ends up with the ball off a corner kick and pounds it home!!!

Freshman James shows great strength on the ball to ward off a defender and slides one past the goalie to the right side inside the post- GOOAAAALLLLL- it's 2-0 Buffs!!!!
