In the last 2 scheduled home matches of the season, nice opportunities to pick up a signature win or two this weekend as the Buffs face off against the Northern California schools, starting off against a VERY talented Stanford squad that this week is ranked #2 in the country, as well as having the #1 RPI. (Thursday is also a "Wear Black" day.) Sunday is also a HUGE match for post-season qualifying purposes against the #36 RPI Bears (The Buffs are at #35). In addition to the match itself, it is also SENIOR DAY, and Ralphie is also scheduled to run.

(Kind of a bummer that the Sunday match has the exact same starting time as a home volleyball match. Assume there may be Pac 12 rules or standards that require certain starting times (I'd guess (???) to better accommodate the visiting teams' travel plans), but as a fan of ALL Buff sports it would be nice if, at least when possible, the Buffs try to avoid scheduling 2 home sporting events at the same time.)

Go Buffs!!!

BOULDER – Colorado soccer gears up for its final two home matches of the season this week. The Buffaloes will host No. 2 Stanford on Thursday and close with California on Sunday.

The matches mark the final regular-season home games for the team's six seniors. Jalen Tompkins, Kelsey Aaknes, Stephanie Zuniga, Camilla Shymka, Taylor Kornieck and Tatum Barton will be the center of attention this week at Pretnup Field as their careers at Colorado approach an end.

Kornieck and Tompkins have been in the spotlight since stepping on campus as freshmen. Now in the final moments of their senior year, both players have etched their name in the Colorado record books.

"I think the conversation for all-time great Buffs field players probably starts and ends with Taylor and Nikki Marshall," head coach Danny Sanchez explained. "That's no disrespect to Amy Barczuk and Fran Munnelly and a lot of other players. Michelle Wenino. She'll be sorely missed, but we're going to enjoy the last few games with her.

"I think JJ, once again no disrespect to other goalkeepers we've had, is the greatest goalkeeper in the history of Colorado soccer. Not just because of the saves record, but from what she brings on the leadership side. Three-year captain and everything else she does. I think the Senior Day [on Sunday], get there early. They'll be crying, the parents will be crying and then me, Jason [Green] and Dave [Morgan] will be crying even more."

Each of the seniors took a minute to reflect on their time as a Buff.

What has been your favorite memory while at CU?

Fans are encouraged to wear black for Thursday's match against Stanford. There will be a t-shirt giveaway for students in attendance, while supplies last.

Sunday's match is not only Senior Day, but it is also the team's annual Kick-or-Treat. There will be trick-or-treating stations set up kinds in attendance before the match. Ralphie is also scheduled to be at the field pregame and will run before the match if the weather and field conditions permit.

Vs. Cal (Sunday, 1:00 PM MT) : Match will be viewable via a free live stream available at https://pac-12.com/live/cubuffs-2 (as well I assume somewhere on the Pac 12 App?).

About an hour and a half to the opening kick, and just over an hour before the senior day ceremony.

Taylor did a great job to get herself into a position to get a goal. However, from about that point on Cal gradually took control. Good thing JJ is a solid keeper.

The pitch was in pretty good shape despite the snow and cold.

It will be challenging for CU to make to the post-season as their final three matches are on the road. Most likely at thins point it would take wining all three.
