Feels way too soon to me, but it's already time for Buff soccer's last (regular season at minimum) home matches of the season, as they face off against the Arizona schools.

Hope they get a couple good turnouts (especially on Sunday's Senior Day), and earn a couple W's!

Preview article (which starts with a preview of senior transfer Becca Rasmussen) -

WEEKEND PREVIEW
CU plays its final two home matches of the season this week, hosting Arizona State at 3 p.m. on Thursday, and Arizona at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Thursday's match against ASU will be the annual Kick Out Cancer match, supporting the fight against cancer. The first 250 fans will receive pink CU socks. Fans purchasing a ticket to the match will also receive a free ticket to CU's men's basketball exhibition against Colorado School of Mines on Oct. 30.

Sunday's match, presented by State Farm, against the Wildcats, is Senior Day, honoring the four graduating seniors for the Buffs, along with their senior student manager and senior student athletic trainer. It will also be the annual Kick-Or-Treat match with free candy for kids in costumes.

ARIZONA STATE PREVIEW
The Sun Devils enter Thursday with a 4-8-2 overall mark, and 1-4-1 in the Pac-12. Junior Jemma Purfield leads them with four goals and three assists for 11 points. Four other players have two goals each. Currently the ASU offense ranked 11th in the Pac-12 in goal per game (1.07), while the team's 1.71 goals-against average ranks last.

ARIZONA PREVIEW
The Wildcats enter the weekend 6-4-3 overall, including 3-2-1 in the Pac-12. They have earned conference wins over Oregon, Oregon State and No. 11 Cal. They have also played perhaps the toughest schedule in the conference, evidenced by their No. 21 ranking in the latest RPI.

Senior Gabi Stoian leads Arizona with three goals scored, while Cali Crisler has a team-high six assists. The Wildcats are 10th in the Pac-21 in goals per game (1.15), but rank fifth defensively with a 0.72 GAA, highlighted by the play of goalkeeper Lainey Burdett, who has played every minute in goal this season and has a .836 save percentage.

With the squad entering this final week at 7-5-3, do we think it will take 2-0 in these to go to the NCAA tourney?

Still have those final 3 on the road to make some noise, but I think the glaring mark right now is being 1-4-1 in conference play. I'd assume the Buffs need to get that to .500 or better to feel good about our chances of dancing.

Yes, the Buffs' back is against the wall in a bit way. This season was always going to be bit of a challenge as it had six road games v five at home. Add to that some injuries to players that I thought were going to be key to the attack.

So this last two home matches are critical to having a shot at making the NCAA tourney. And they will need to win some road games in the next two weeks as well.

What's troubling about this team is there lack of ability to get the ball to their goal scorers in the 18 yard box. I really don't think that there is a lack of ability to score, it's that there aren't enough quality chances be generated.

Match has started, and Buffs score early (5th minute- on the 3rd or 4th shot off a nice corner kick)!

Buffs get a 2nd goal - calm shot by Massey from the middle within 8-12 yards of goal off a great pass from Kornieck!!!!

Pukatapu with her 2nd goal (AKA a brace) off ANOTHER beautiful pass, this one from the right wing, by Kornieck!!!!

Buffs up 3-0!

Nice win by the Buffs as the start of the 5 match march to the end of Pac 12 play commences.

Hope they keep gobbling up the 3 point opportunities! And with 3 goals... even better!

BOULDER – Colorado scored three first-half goals to cruise to a 3-0 win over Arizona State on Thursday afternoon at Prentup Field. The Buffs snapped a three-match losing streak and improved to 8-5-3 overall and 2-4-1 in the Pac-12, while ASU fell to 4-8-2 and 1-5-1.

Freshman Marty Puketapu recorded a brace for CU and Megan Massey added another goal.
...

NOTES: CU's three goals in the first half were the most for the Buffs in one half against a Pac-12 opponent since joining the league in 2011 ... Puketapu had her second multi-goal match of her freshman season and her seven goals on the season move her into a tie for fifth-most ever for a CU freshman ... Kornieck tied her career high with two assists, her second two-assist match of her career ... Greening recorded her first career assist and it was her first point since her freshman season in 2015 (she was moved to defender last season, but moved back into the midfield last week) ... the Buffs entered the match with a 418:26 goalless drought, but scored just 4:43 into the action on Thursday.

UP NEXT: CU hosts Arizona at 1 p.m. on Sunday. It will be the final home match of the season for the Buffs and is the annual Kick-Or-Treat day with Halloween activities for kids dressed in their costumes.

Buffzone also had a preview article going into this weekend's action which featured quite a bit on Courtney Fedor, one of 4 Buff seniors who will be honored Sunday on Senior Day- http://www.buffzone.com/soccer/ci_31384770/final-homestand-begins-favorable-turn-schedule-cu-soccer . (The 4 seniors are, per the article, "Fedor and fellow four-year Buff Joss Orejel, in addition to transfers Becca Rasmussen and Hannah Scheid".)

Scoring a goal fairly early in the match I think to the pressure off. After all, they had scored a grand total of two goals in their previous conference matches.

This afternoon's match was free flowing and despite the shut-out the Buffs were pressed from the get go and JJ saw a lot of action in the first half. At the same time, the Buffs were able to get opportunities themselves and obviously they were able to put a number of them in the net.

Interestingly, in the second half ASU didn't really get any shots on goal. So there wasn't much drama the final 45 minutes.

Lot's of Buffs got on the pitch tonight due to the three goal lead at the half.

0-0, going into overtime ("golden goal"). This is a must win for the Buffs if they want to get an NCAA bid. Three games left in the season, all on the road.
