Before hosting a 2nd straight 4 team tournament this weekend, VOLLEYBALL (4-2) receives a quick in-state visit from the tough-looking Northern Colorado Bears (5-2). The Bears already boast a 3-1 win over in-state rival Colorado State, and their only losses are to #13 ranked Florida and Ole Miss (the latter or whom they also beat in the tournament they hosted last weekend where they played each opponent twice).

(Although hosting a match in the middle of 2 tourneys where they play 3 matches in 3 days each weekend will I assume be at least a little physical challenge (although UNC also played a lot this past week - 4 matches from last Thursday through Saturday), it will be a nice introduction for the Buff team and us fans to get used to Wednesday matches, as that seems to be the default day when almost if not all conference weeks will begin with the 1st of the 2 weekly matches.)

The match video stream will be available for those with premium ($) ESPN+ subscriptions. (See more details and links near the bottom of this post.)

Go Buffs!!!

really need to win this game. They beat CSU in FoCo 3-1. That may not mean much as CSU was 0-4 last time I checked

BOULDER – The Colorado volleyball team (4-2) continues its home stand with a midweek match against Northern Colorado (5-2) on Wednesday and a second home tournament in Buffs Invitational this weekend. The Buffs will play UC Irvine (4-2), Cal (4-2) and Wyoming (5-0) after the Wednesday match.

The Buffs performance in its home opener mirrored the first tournament on the road, going 2-1 on the weekend. Colorado won in five against Georgia (Sept. 6), swept Fresno State (Sept. 7) and fell to Washington in a competitive five-set match (Sept. 8). Senior setter Taylor Simpson and sophomore middle blocker Cayla Payne were named to the Buffs Classic All-Tournament Team following the conclusion of the weekend.

Just occasionally glancing at the live stats, the 1st set looked TIGHT throughout, but UNC gets the last 2 points (the last on an ace) to go up 1-0 by a 23-25 score.

The 2nd set started tight, but after 10 all the Buffs started to move ahead and end up with a solid 25-18 win to tie the match at 1.

The team did not play well. At the post game presser, Jesse did it alone and took all of the blame. He said we gave them 20 more digs than we got and that was the difference in the match. He said I did not have them ready.

Nice to see a coach who takes a loss on his shoulders. He didn't call out a single player by name. Said the team didn't play well.

yeah, they did not play well and Jesse knew that was on him. UNC has a good team but CU should have won
