We find it odd that national analysts continue to doubt the conference success of Colorado. Yes, the Pac-12 is clearly down this season and in nowhere nearly as strong as the other five BCS conferences. And yes, the Buffs have lost two of their three away conference games, but it's hard to keep discounting what Tad Boyle's squad has accomplished in 2012.
With a roster of constantly-moving parts, Colorado has defeated Arizona, Washington and Washington State. Against those teams (and others), the Buffs are holding opponents to well-under a point per possession and while their offense is somewhat efficient (1.05, per Basketball Prospectus' John Gasaway), CU is the best in the conference at generating offense by getting to the stripe.
Howwever, Colorado is still seen as a pretender, a team that will crumple once their foes learn how to exploit their weaknesses. We concede that it will be interesting to see how the squad handles UCLA and Arizona -- both on the road -- over the course of the next two weeks.
