Spencer Dinwiddie, guard, Colorado

Dinwiddie was the Buffaloes' best all-around offensive player in 2012-13, when he shot 47.7 percent from 2, 33.8 percent from 3 and posted a 20.2 percent assist rate, the highest on his team. He finished with 15.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game. That kind of statistical production is nice and all, but it doesn't really capture the biggest thing Dinwiddie has going for him: size. He's 6-foot-5 and lanky. Were he a small forward or even a 2-guard, as he looked for large stretches of his freshman year, that size might still be a liability. But as a point guard who can score efficiently and distribute -- and who ran pick-and-roll on 30.4 percent of his possessions last season and produced a creditable 1.033 points as the pick-and-roll ball handler, according to Synergy -- Dinwiddie's size should raise a few eyebrows between now and next year.

Draft Express has Dinwiddie way too low on its 2014 mock draft -#13 in the 2nd round. He's rated as a SG so look for that to change when he's re-rated as a PG (as noted in the OP from ESPN).

I can say I believe Ski is consistently overrated nationally. He just hasn't shown enough consistency for me to believe that he forms one half of the best guard duo in the conference. That said, I also believe he has the potential to make me look stupid here.

Ski has proven that he is an extremely effective guard in driving the basket and even in ball distribution. If you go back and watch games from last year you will see it. Yes he did go cold in shooting for most of the year, but he showed ability in managing the game in a variety of other ways. If he gets his shot back we will absolutely have the best guards in the PAC.

I agree that much of the props he deservedly got his freshman year wore off last year. It was just painful for much of the season with the 2/14 and 5 turnover type game that occurred far too frequently. I do have a hunch he'll be back in form next year for a variety of reasons, but that remains to be proven. Part of Ski's national recognition is due to his knack for showing up in the NCAA Tournament even if in the case of last season there were about 20 other somewhat painful to extremely woeful performances. It's just that those occurred at 1 am on the east coast on a Thursday night in Pullman when no one east of Colorado (except me) was watching.
