Since we've yet to have a meltdown this year, let's schadenfreude it up and enjoy the misery of others.

Unfortunately, when I went to shaggybevo they force you to register before browsing their forum.

TexAgs didn't have anything good on it. Disappointing, but it was a close and good game so I don't blame them (although that defense is Embree/Brown dreadful given their athletes).

I'm nearly tempted to troll a fusker board just to see what a nuclear meltdown looks like.

Shaggy is in full "fire mack now" mode, but they've been there for three years. Two losses makes the chants a lot louder.

I just took a quick look at a couple of them. Huskerpedia looks to be in a state of denial with a lot of blame on the QB play.

Huskermax has a bunch of threads on who would be candidates for the HC job or for coordinator jobs if Bo decides to shake up the staff.

Both boards seem to have a lot more resignation than we are used to seeing from fusker fans. It seems like even though they won't admit it they know that they are not NC contenders and aren't on any kind of path that will get them there soon.

Barking Carnival is always fun after Mack Brown kicks another one away! It was darned near suicidal last week after BYU and ballistic after Ol Miss.

Mack's got absolutely no excuses for his team's performances. Best players from the most crazy HS football state, top facilities, huge fan base, Longwhorn Network, buckets full of loose cash for top assistants (and he re-hires Greg Robinson as DC???)........no excuses, NONE!

I think Fusker fans secretly recognize Bo is dipsh*t poseur. He's given up historic numbers on "D" at least once a year and lucked out when Martinez wins a couple of games with his feet. Smart Fusker faithful (oxymoron, I know), understand.... they're waiting for Bohl to come back.

A poll on Huskermax this morning, fans voting their faith in Bo: "I've seen enough, I have not faith" 79.04%
I have faith, 3.7%
Still have faith, not sure... the rest.

Shatel has a good article. But after watching Bo's post game, I realize he is Embree. He has no answers, but it's all on the players is what I hear here.

The link is the article, and near the bottom is the post game. Having a lot of "told ya so's" with my Husker brethren right now. 3 Big Reds in the neighborhood who had a lot of fun the last several years at my expense.

Craig Bohl was the architect of the 62-36 ass pounding administered upon the fuskers on that fateful day in November, 2001. I say by all means, hire the guy as your head football coach. I'm guessing he's one of those guys who does really well at the lower levels of college football.

As I recall, Shawn Watson said he schemed for two years to win the first half of that game and did handily. GB and his buddies at OC and DC were damned lucky the Fuskers fumbled inside the five as they were going for a TD that would have brought them back to within seven. After that the Fuskers players just quit.

Don't get me wrong I was in absolute heaven that day (and since), but other than that fumble, its likely Barney would have been the architect of the worst blown game ever against the Fuskers.

I think most of their problems are on D, but I wonder if they'd look at Scott Frost (current O Coord at Oregon)? Like any other team that is struggling, they have absolutely zero identity on offense. Are they a spread team like Oregon or are they a power running team like Wiscy?

I'm all for enjoying their misery but I also know that they have too much "want to" (read: money, facilities, VERY cooperative administration, etc) to stay down forever.

There's no way that kNU doesn't continue to be a competitor in their division, and a candidate for the B1G title from time to time.

I don't think they'll ever be the perennial MNC contender that they are used to being, but I have a hard time believing, with their history, facilities, and support, that they will be a mediocre program from now on.

I'll admit to a bit of envy of their support (both fan and administration). And like us, I think they made the right decision to leave the Big12 (their issues with Texas go back to the very formation of the Big12). But I agree with a few others who have pointed out that the move impacts their recruiting more than ours, as it detaches them further from recruits in Texas. In addition to giving the finger to Texas, we moved to a conference that is in our wheelhouse, culturally as well as recruiting footprint wise. Bottom line, Nebraska's move was much more "away from" rather than "to" something.

Martinez graduating should help their offense immensely.

Yeah, the guy's kinda been an albatross around their neck for what seems like the last 7 years. Tons of athletic ability, but functionally, even though he's gotten better, he's still inconsistent to put it mildly.

i agree here. he was effective sort of a FR because he made plays and was unpredictable. for the last 6 years, you know he isn't going to beat you with his arm or drop back. what was once unpredictable is now a known limitation.

i think NU's move hurts them a little. at least in the middling media markets of KC, OKC, Dallas people cared about Bugeater football. Chicago and the great lakes....it's all Michigan and tOSU. Pro sports. i get NU had issues with Texas all along and Dr. Tom is a saint warrior....but, i think they were a better fit with the Okies and such.

Pelini is a headcase. his teams play with the same schizo attitude.

anyway, Shaggy Bevo went lock down for a while requiring registration but it's been hilarious all weekend. those guys really know how to lose with elan.

edit: current thread at SB is "KSU will give us a new asshole, OU will make us gay".

Guy has no situational awareness. As a freaking QB.

You hit it on the head, he is a fail at the mental aspects of the game. He got the job as a Fr. because of his obvious athletic tools and as pointed out above when teams didn't know what to expect from him he was much more effective than he is now.

At the same time anyone on the outside could see that after starting as a Fr. it was going to be hard to get him out of the line-up. His presence had to have had at least some impact on their ability to recruit other QBs.

It's hard to see much improment in him since his freshman year. How much of that is lack of ability to improve on his part and how much of it falls on the coaches not developing him. We certainly saw enough of failure to develop players in Boulder over the past number of years.

Shaggy has been an entertaining read....everything from "you should suck a tailpipe or eat a bullet" if you go to the game to the aforementioned prison rape references. They are especially harsh on the ginger OC Major Applewhite...even stooping to suggesting the only thing he is good at is shagging female student assistants. If this keeps up, someone is going to go Charles Whitman from the tower on Mack (figuratively, of course).

In my book, guys (like Bohl) who can build a program at FCS level are great coaches, independent of what level. I don't extend that courtesy to High School coaches as they don't (usually) recruit, etc. I see no greater indicator of future success than past success. If you are NU, and you can hire a top BCS head coach, great. But if you are a school that can't afford it, hire a proven head coach from a smaller college. Everytime.

I don't think it's any different building a program in Fargo, ND than it is in Lincoln, NE. In fact, there may be more similarities to that than pulling in a BCS guy from the Florida or another region.

Football (with recruiting) is Football.

When Mack hired his DC, that guy was a hot item and people were talking about his next step being a big time HC gig....

Reading shaggybevo this AM... And, well, there is not a program or fanbase that I wish felt more pain or suffering. In short:

That's awful. And I hate myself for laughing upon learning that the Sigma Nu's name was "Otter".
