Against my better judgment, I'm getting excited about this. Since a competent coaching staff would have had us 4-8 this season, can't wait to see what Coach Mac does.
 
This is it exactly. He built a good team. I am letting him set his staff, recruit, and coach, and crossing my fingers we see a team that looks competent out there next fall.

No doubt that MacIntyre had a heck of a season and is a good coach. I'm eager to see if he can translate that into success here and how long that's going to take.
 
I love the hire. Who would of expected those results from SJSU EVER? Not me.

I'm tired of people bitching that we didn't get a big name BCS coach. There was a 0% chance of that happening. I think we eventually got the right guy and I'm much more hopeful for the future than I was during this whole ****** ass year!

His resume is nice, my only gripe was people annointing him "BEAR BRYANT" before he's filled out his staff, recruited and coached a single game.
 
This guy built a crap program into a winner. He got people excited about the program. He was known in the state of California. He went and got good football minds that can recruit and worked on all levels. He's not brash, overconfident, painting over walls or bitching about water. For all we know at SJSU, the coaches and players had to dig a hole and install a pump to get water. This guy doesn't have any stupid sayings and he's surely not going to pump sunshine up their ass. He may not be the "hot name" but he's going to make sure he doesn't look like an idiot and will stand up for these guys. He may even pop off and say "Guess what Buff nation, we aren't good. Haven't been in 7 years. What makes you think we are going to win the Pac 12 this year. Relax a little and let me straighten out what hasn't been in a long time." I'll guarantee he won't run a QB sneak on 1st and 10 unless the QB is running the hell out of the ball.
 
I'm psyched that he had the same or lesser talent than us and was a last minute interception away from beating Stanford!!! If a competent coach this year should have had us 4-8, what can this guy do?

And I'm kinda pissed at him though...cuz I DON'T want to get excited about a new coach AGAIN. Been there, regretted that. :lol:
 
I have a good feeling about MikeMac. A big reason is that college football cycles are absolutely real, and Colorado just bottomed out, and the screaming has become so loud that the administration has thrown unprecedented support behind the AD to get things turned around.

At the same time, I'm not drinking the kool-aid either. I think we lose to CSU to open the season and win 2-3 games next year to start off MikeMac's tenure.
 
With ****** coaching we almost beat CSU. I have faith that we will have much greater coaching this time.

I am confident we will be a better team top to bottom, with more discipline, and most importantly more competitive beginning with year 1. Besides all the other failings of Water Bottle and Co., their Xs and Os and game day adjustments were terrible and or non-existant.

However I am not ready to say he will be our saviour. As others have said we've been down that road too many times. Let's let him prove it to us by assembling a good staff, winning a few last minute recruiting battles, showing a good spring practice, and letting the results speak for themselves next year.
 
I sure hope so. Looks and sounds good so far. Being a Buff fan my whole life though, I am always waiting for the dreaded other shoe falling.

I was thinking about this too. SJSU's facilities must be really far behind. He knows how to make the best with what he has, and he makes deficiencies part of the challenge, not part of the problem.
 
I like that he's opening up the practices. To me it means that he's willing to be held accountable for how they are run. Guarantee they won't have a bunch of people standing around listening to Drake on the loudspeakers.
 
I watched that Stanford game in it's entirety and SJSU was the better team. Better coaching, better execution, and better enthusiasm. As the article pointed out, they should have won that game. They were the better team that night.

glad someone mentioned the open practices finally. I love the idea of open practice. It will garner more attention from the fans and the team + shows there is nothing to hide. I think the players will practice harder knowing someone is always watching them and the coaches likewise

really gets pumped up huh? I loved it. If you notice when the players play hard and in position they seem faster and bigger than they are. Amazing what good coaching and game-planning will do to a roster

Urban Meyer wasn't a BCS coach when Florida hired him. I'm not saying Eminem (thats what I'm calling him for now) is UM, but, but the BCS label is a little overblown.
 
If we win our first 3, very winnable, ooc games (CSU, Central Ark, Fresno st (@home), any 1 or 2 PAC-12 games, and don't lose by more than 20 to anyone...I think I'm going to consider that a success.

Is that setting the bar too low? For some reason indefinitely think we can take Berkley and Utah, and maybe UW.
 
We have to get a QB that can run the new offense effectively. We need some playmakers on the edge to step up, like Richardson, Thomas, etc. On defense, we need the young DL to grow up fast, along with DBs. We need to find some athletic playmakers at LB.
 
I keep hearing he is a great recruiter then read that he did it at SJSU with 2's and 3's. the two statements seem to conflict. What is the rest of the story?

Getting 2-3* players to attend SJSU is an amazing feat?

Seriously, have you seen our recuriting class? We're not getting anything better than 2-3* players at CU. Which is located in Boulder. And plays in the PAC-12.

I'm optimistic he'll be able to pull some quality kids considering he has a whole lot more to work with now, than he did at SJSU

It's your sequencing that's off, I think DBT.

He took a bunch of 2* and 3* recruits and built a winning team, and was able to leverage that into the highest rated class in the WAC.

In fairness, I think his current class is still composed primarily of 2* and 3* guys (don't think there were any 4 or 5* kids in this year's class). However, you have to look at the context. Reality is that Mac and staff are competing primarily against other WAC and MWC schools to get the best remaining talent after schools from larger conferences have picked up their guys. What Mac has shown is the ability to beat similarly situated schools for the kind of talent they're all targeting. So the hope is that Mac can get CU to a place where we're beating Zona, ASU, Utah, etc. for guys we're all targeting.

Please find another name. This one brings back really bad memories for the WBB fans here .... because that was what Kathy McMconnell-Miller was called by some of us when she was here. And we prefer not to be reminded of that time.

I agree. MikeMac wins the 2nd tier recruiting battles. He then REALLY coaches them up and is killer with X and Os and in 3 years went from 1-11 to 10-2. Presto! I hope he can do something similar here. In my Kool Aid mode, I see him going 5-7 this year, gets momentum on the recruiting trail (and a top 30 class) and the year after we're in a bowl game. I think it's the blue Kool Aid this time :lol:
