His plan's fine print: In May, MacIntyre will dispatch four coaches to "hit every high school" in Colorado. Six coaches will be assigned to California, with some of them also working Colorado if necessary. Three coaches will work Texas, specifically the Dallas-Austin-San Antonio-Houston "triangle," said MacIntyre. "Texas is a gigantic state . . . we're really going to work that 'triangle' area hard."

Also, one coach will work the Seattle/Pacific Northwest region, one will recruit in Arizona, primarily targeting Phoenix. San Jose State successfully combed that metropolitan area, said MacIntyre, adding, "We want to win Colorado first and foremost, get the BCS players here. That's our goal . . . we had a great response from high school coaches and families (and) we've already got our eyes on juniors for 2014. It's been a good reception. We've done a good job for this class."

There really is no reason to leave the PAC-12 footprint except for Texas. Glad MacIntyre seems to understand it and hopefully we see a real commitment to in-state recruiting this time.

And Hawaii.

Probably a good thing we moved on from Louisiana.

We could stop recruiting Hawaii and I would not be all that upset.

Ya we don't really have a polynesian connection with the staff right now either. So much for locking up on Poly recruiting with Tui and Cabral

No real ties to Hawaii on the staff and I do not think it really matters.

If the new staff focuses on CO, CA, and TX with a handful of players from the Phoenix area, we will be more than all right.

In California alone: Bay Area, Fresno, LA, Orange County, Inland Empire, and San Diego County.

In a slightly related topic, I saw Mutumbo on a Geico ad yesterday. It was a flashback to his "Now that's a jumbo Mutumbo meal" days on McDonald's when he was with the Nuggets.

We're gonna go more Norcal too. Graham, Reed, Severson, Olugbode, and Awuzie

Sounds like a 180 degree change from what the last staff was doing in-state (read:nothing). That can only be a good thing. I'm pretty sure McElweenie has also been working the same plan of hitting every high school in the state. Can't let people start thinking there isn't a better in-state alternative.

Three coaches in Texas is going to give them a lot of ground to cover, they'll have to focus on the target rich environments, but if they're good recruiters, that could work well.

And they should focus on maintaining their existing contacts in California. The easiest relationships to build are the ones you already have, after all.

And glad to see them working Arizona. Definitely an area CU should have more success in than we've been able to so far...

Not surprised at all that Duff made a whole new thread about this. When I read that, I knew you were gonna be stoked

New Jersey, DC, and Louisiana out. Phoenix and NorCal in. Remain in Texas, SoCal and Colorado. Sounds smart.

Not to undermine Duff's elation, but weren't we all expecting this? It's what he's done in the past...
