I disagree. I think he is toast if we can't manage to win 5 games. Do you really think RG likes sitting back and watching all of his fundraising efforts got o waste?
Has to get to 5 wins to be safe. The seat gets very warm at 4.

You can't go 1-26 in conference play over three years and keep your job. Anywhere.
One thing is for sure, the honeymoon is definitely over. The fans mostly gave MM two years to get his act together. What we witnessed last night has got to be giving the fan base (what there is left of it) cause for deep concern. He's not getting any passes anymore.
The mentality was evident during the offseason. HCMM now has everything at his disposal to turn this thing around. There are no excuses for what happened last night and there will be no excuses for the final outcome of the season. Sure we have 12 more games to play to win 7 and we incrementally improved over the course of last season so there is still opportunity to win games, but that team that showed up last night will be lucky to win 3 games. HCMM and his staff need to fix things and fix them fast.
You could be right. I think there's enough of a glimmer of hope that the facilities will help things that RG will want to give MM at least through 2016 to get things turned around. You've said it yourself, the schedule in 2016 is much more favorable than it is this year.
I think MacIntyre keeps his job with five wins. Beyond that, I would not rule anything out.
3-1 in non con and 2-7 in pac 12 play should not be hard to do. That is a low bar that HCMM has to clear.

Going into bunker mode during spring and fall camp is never a good sign.
We fans had little clue as to what the 2015 Buffs looked like because practice was all but shut down except for friendlies in the press helping sell the company line.
On the field, under the lights, this year's Buffs on opening day against Hawaii pretty much played like they did last year against CSU.
Amazing how the PR about being older and stronger, with players and coaches talking breakout and bowl bound was guzzled hook line and sinker.
Also not surprising to see lots of posters coming out of the woodwork after being sunshine-shamed after a pretty craptastic off-season. There's lots of "told you so" amongst the wait and see crowd.

I think attendance will be a big factor more than wins. I am afraid that UMass game will have less than 30,000. RG will be forced to do something to energize the fan base.

Pretty scary thought. That new party deck can only do so much.
Student apathy is already a big problem, and just got harder to address.

Actually, that's a pretty good point. "You might get us to 6 wins next year, but another coach probably could do that too, and we'll sell far more tickets, and sell them sooner with another coach in place."
It also might depend on who is available...
Why? He is a solid coach who has won at the BCS level. He has some baggage but I can live with that if it translates into some W's, this is pathetic.
Well I do not envision an interim situation, so it would seem weird to promote a guy while simultaneously admitting the staff as a whole failed.
It's disheartening to compare us to Utah. They sell out and over 90% wear red. I saw one of their women's gymnastics meets this Spring and it was noted they regularly sell out for that too (17,000+)
i think we'll see a whole direction if a change is made. if it were my call (assuming we make a change), i'd make a run at some proven big names who are known to be recruiters. and those kind of guys are going to want their own staff in place. we have a lot more to sell to a new hc than we had a few years ago, too.
