My conversation with Arizona basketball writer defending Andre

So today Doug Haller (The Arizona State and Pac12 writer down here in Phoenix) released his votes for Pac12 All defensive team and left off someone.

He then makes stupid arguments and admits at the end I was right.

What is stupid about his argument is that Dre is also an outstanding on ball defender, he has quick feet and with his long arms he makes it very hard to do much with the ball. He tips away a lot of passes (both incoming and outgoing,) It is also rare to see somebody drive against him as he positions himself well and is able to disrupt the dribble with his reach.

Even without the blocks he is a well above average defender.
 
Does he lead the team in steals this year? I think he was close to our frosh record last year.

This assclown seems to be under the impression that Dre is 7'2" and plays like Mark Eaton or something. Maybe he should be impressed that a 6'6" guy leads the league in rebounds and blocks a ton of shots....

Yeah that's what I was trying to explain to him. He keeps saying stats don't matter. He says that Dre just gets a ton of rebounds and blocks a ton of shots. I wanted to be like "Thanks Doug for defining exactly what a good post defender should do"

Truth. You ended up growing from the process though. Isn't allbuffs a great crucible for self-improvement?
 
Doug Haller has regained my respect. Rare to see a journalist admit they are wrong like that.
