Nate Solder - Consensus All-American

Believe that is true. Pretty big deal and very happy for Mr. Solder.

If that's true, how did Dizon not end up on the stadium? I thought he made consensus AA, didn't he?

EDIT: According to the Great Wikipedia, Dizon was indeed consensus AA

So does anyone know what the criteria are for going up on the stadium? Crosby made it, but Dizon did not. Will Solder?

Maybe its unanimous AA?

Consensus, unanimous, what's the difference?

Congratulations Nate! And get his name up on the board!

What's the difference between unanimous and consensus?

I would think he'd make it on the wall, but so should Dizon. But what the hell do I know?

Thanks for the list, D3H. Now I think I remember the criteria.

I think it's you have to be named an AA and also win an end-of-season national award of some type.

Of course, looking at it again, maybe it's named AA by all the sources that name an AA team.

Well, maybe I narrowed it down through my super-nuke deductive reasoning!

There are only 6 Unanimous selections.

I thought it was 2x all-american or 3x all-conference (or post season award) to get your name on the stadium

Not so fast there super-nuke. Crosby never won an award and he's up there. I think Solder will make his way up there and if there's any justice in the world the Dizon will too. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

If all goes as planned, Crosby will have his No. 16 jersey honored in a special halftime ceremony, as he will become the 25th player to have his name and number enshrined on the Fred Casotti Press Box façade inside Folsom Field. The honor is bestowed on those who have earned first-team All-America status twice, and/or honored three times as a first-team All-Conference performer (or being the recipient of one of college football’s postseason trophies for being selected the best at a particular position).
Never mind then...

We have only had 6 Unanimous All-Americans, and 4 of them were on one team!

Eric Bieniemy
Joe Garten
Alfred Williams
Jay Leeuwenburg
Rashaan Salaam
Daniel Graham

A Detroit Free Press article that talks about who the Lions might snag listed Solder as one of the potentials...

OT Nate Solder, Colorado: Rated the No. 1 offensive lineman by ESPN’s Scouts Inc., though only No. 14 overall.
now, while this is bad news he might end up on my loser-ific Lions, it's great to see Buffs get talked about so highly when talking about next April's draft.

The Lions need all of the help they can get. Stafford keeps getting destroyed and they need to build up their line. If he becomes their top choice, then hopefully he becomes a franchise LT. Even if its the Lions it's great to have Buffs playing in the NFL. With Dizon on the team as well that'd make 2 Buffs.

The only crappy thing about going to the Lions is that they have the worst management in the whole league.

There are a lot of skill guys coming out in this draft. I could see why Nate would fall to #14 or so. Depending on his combine #s I think he goes top 10. Gotta work on that bench; Pitt never emphasized it.

Congrats Nate! On the name being in the stadium, do you have to get a degree first? Did Dizon graduate or not? Either way, Solder deserves the honor. Concensus AA and he was a finalist for the academic Hiesman. The definition of a student athlete and he should be honored appropriately.

A friend in the AD confirmed for me that Solder's name will indeed be going up in Folsom. Your name goes up if you win a conference or national award and Nate won the Big XII Lineman of the Year.

Consensus, I believe, means that you were named an All-American by at least three major publications.

Unanimous means that EVERY major publication named you an All-American. This is much harder to achieve, and as such, more prestigious.

Consensus, unanimous, what's the difference?!

Doesn't make sense. We should have plenty of other guys on there than. Wasn't Dizon Big XII Newcomer of the Year?
