NBA potential on our current roster (broken off from the Miller recruit thread)

FLounder

Think Positive and life will be Positive.
Could you imagine
5-Gordan
4-Scott
3-Miller
2-Hopkins
1-Collier

Not sure why I'd want that or why Wes would be at the 5.

It's good that we'll be able to match up with teams or force them to try to match us. But the real scary part of our roster is on the wing where we'll have anything from a Dustin Thomas to a Fletch to a King to a Jenkins to a 3-guard lineup with Ski, J-Hop and Talton or Dom.

Buffs are going to be a matchup nightmare for most teams with the versatility and athleticism on the wing.

I think Scott would thrive tremendously in the Tim Duncan PF mold. Gordon would be Scott's Bonner.

If they were to go with those 5 starters, would imagine Gordon would be more likely to play at the 3 with Miller and Scott at the 4 and 5 spots. Hard to see CU going with that lineup considering Gordon, Scott and Miller will probably be CU's only big men next year. Suppose they could always play XJ at the 4 some, but hard to really see him not being in the starting lineup at the 3.

Wouldn't be shocked if it takes Collier some time to crack the starting line up

Are all you guys assuming that XJ is going to the NBA after this year?

I may be way out on a limb but I think it's possible that XJ and Scott might be early entrants after this season. We could have as many as 3 jumping to the nba. I'm selfish - I don't want that to happen, but it's a possibility.

XJ and Scott don't seem like NBA players to me... at least not the early-entrant types imo

Scott, if he puts on weight could be a legit 4.

You go to the scrimmage on Saturday?

Was he as dominant as people have been saying in your opinion? I know he's put on a lot of muscle over the offseason and you can definitely tell when you see him.

Take XJ up with JG for specifics but athletic wings who can rain 3's and get to the rack are pretty much prototypical NBA players (ask NBA GM Dan Marle). We are in a situation (15% chance) that with big years Spencer, XJ, and Scott could all be gone.

How do people not understand that guys who are a legit 6'9"/10 who can: run the floor, score on the low block, and shoot an 75% clip from the FT line GET DRAFTED.

THE GET DRAFTED REALLY ****ING HIGH.

I get the argument with Scott. The NBA places such a premium on athleticism and above the rim play that Scott doesn't really fit the mold. I think he'll ultimately get paid, but he's not the type to put on a show in individual workouts. Hopefully that means we get to keep him an extra year.

Love the program and loved what I saw Sat morning BUT you guys are dispensinv mors Kool aide than Maximus on Rivals during the sumn season.

Of the 5 guys in the OP only one has played in a college game. And I think he was abused more often than not. None come in with NBA credentials. Did I miss the sarcasm font?

I'm not sure I follow you. Flounder throws out a bad lineup idea and everyone's chugging kool-aid? I'd also disagree with Scott being abused last year.

I 100% agree with you on your prototypical NBA player. However, even though you only gave it a 15% chance of happening, I think you're way overestimating that chance of all three gone after this year. I'd give it about a 3% chance. If it happens though, I'd be ecstatic, as that means we were probably super dominant in conference play and a final four team.

I'm perplexed as well: we aren't loaded like Kentucky. Johnson is a tweener, so I don't see him being drafted. Some team could take a shot at shot as a junior or senior, but not this year.

Guys this line up is not for this year...
I'm simply stating that that lineup would be almost impossible to defend.

I get that those are our only bugs but it would be cool to see them in the game at the same time.

I don't know if there is an NBA GM named Dan Marle (I think not) but if you are referring to Dan Majerle, he was never a GM but an assistant coach. He is now the head coach at Grand Canyon University, the first for-profit school in D1 basketball. This is where Jeremy Adams landed.

I think guys figured it out when you listed Collier there.

Honestly, I was really impressed. I was expecting him to make progress. I wasn't expecting him to be head & shoulders the best player on the court like he was. Once again - small sample size, scrimmage, disclaimers, etc. etc., but the kid looked REALLY good.

You are right I pulled the wrong name I was looking for Daryl Morey the rockets GM who statistically argues mid-range J's are worthless. Either bomb the three or get to the rack.

Im pretty confident that the mayor will be gone after this year, but jelly and XJ I'm not so sure - they would have to have huge years and we'd have to make a run in the tourney.

I think they could both go in 2015 if they continue to improve, but I think this year is a long shot.

Agreed. I don't think they're gone this year. But I'm starting to think that we may have an awkward March/April with Jelly similar to The Mayor last year. I think both are probably gone in 2015.

I am surprised no one else called you on this post, while I agree about the amount of koolaide in this thread this post is nearly as bad going the other direction.

Here is a minor recap of Josh Scott's season where he "got abused more often than not"
- Was the only guy who looked like he belonged when we played KU.
- Frustrated super recruit Isiah Austin into one of his worst shooting games of the year.
- Was our second most efficient offensive player.
- #2 in rebounds
- #2 in Blocks
- #2 from the charity stripe

Did Scott have a hard time with the Bachynskies of the world? absolutely. Did he play a ton early and hit the freshman wall? completely. Abused in 51% of the games? come on.
