nbcsports.com has CU at #19

but anything short of at least one win in the NCAA tournament should be thought of as a disappointing year for these Buffaloes.

Totally agree with this. Tad doesnt seem to be on the tamp down expectations circuit like last year (or maybe he hasnt started yet) but this should be a good team. Thankfully, we only have to wait 1 more month!

I just got this image in my mind of XJ posterizing Wiggins from Kansas.

the article is kinda dumb:

And while Boyle didn’t recruit either of them, he was the one that put together this entire roster, one that has been built on under-the-radar talent and will head into this season as a top 25 team.

Weren't Scott and XJ consensus top 100 talent (maybe even top 75)

Yes, but I think the writer is referring to our core pieces with Dinwiddie (3 Star, potential All-American), Booker (3 Star, potential 2nd/3rd Team Pac-12) and Gordon (2-4 Star, potential All Pac-12/NBA Pick). I agree with the writer with everything except the Tad not recruiting Roberson part.

it would be interesting to compare our average star ranking/offer list versus other teams in the top 25.

They make one error, stating Tad didn't recruit Andre Roberson but not a bad read overall

I'm pretty sure Dre verballed to Bzdelik, but Tad had to do damage control after he left to keep him from de-committing.

Edit: Bzdelik left for Wake Forest on April 13th and Andre verballed on May 2nd, so I guess Tad closed the deal, but the bulk of the recruiting would have been done by Bzdelik.

he committed approx on 5/2/2010 and Boyle was hired in April, so it looks like he committed to TAD.

only re-recruitment Tad had to do was of Burks. Tad found Dre while he was at UNC. Also heard that Coach A knew of him. Doesn't matter, CU didn't go hard after Dre till Tad came on board.

He has dunked on some very talented players so this would be a nice addition to his list and would surely get the crowd going.

Yeah, but when we got Josh Scott to commit he was not considered anywhere near a top 100 talent. He blew up in Kansas City on the AAU circuit, at least from what I remember of it. It was great recognition by Tad and CU's staff to get on him when they did, as things might have gotten interesting if he had waited.

XJ was a big time recruitment, but lot of teams cooled on him earlier then they should have. Think he and Shabazz were on the same AAU team, and Xavier deferred too much in some people's views.

Kind of...

Scott did blow up on the AAU circuit the summer after he committed, but he was definitely in the top 100 when he committed in March of 2011.

By the time XJ signed in October of 2011 Scott was the higher rated of the two players. Shabazz and XJ were not on the same AAU team, XJ and Dinwdiddie actually played AAU together.

I meant more when he verbally committed to CU. Know that he had already went up the rankings by the time he had to put his signature down. But at the time he verbally committed, there were quite a few CU fans questioning whether he was even worthy of a scholarship. At least from what I remember of it

This is absolutely correct. I remember watching him go from NR to #99 on the ESPN Top-100 list.

Pretty sure that Rivals always had him rated highly. But I think some others didn't figure it out until Jelly dominated Isaiah Austin the summer before his senior year.

max preps had him in their top 100 when he verbally committed.

I'm finding them to be about the best. For the 2014 class, they're pretty much the only site that has Casey Benson where he should be.

P.S. Too bad we couldn't take him, but we'd filled the spot with Collier and there's no arguing that. Oregon got a good one.
