NCAA is lobbying/asking Congress to grant it Anti Trust exemption similar to the NFL, NBA, and MLB…

These ****ers can't make up their mind.

Of course it was related to players on Chicago State. Why am I not surprised?

NIL would be “regulated” by the NCAA under such an anti-trust award. The players might need to unionize in response.

I suspect all TV contracts and who controls the post season would eventually come under NCAA control too.

I would totally trust the NCAA to administer such a system. They’ve proven to be such good custodians of the college athletic experience.

I would like to see membership (teams and conferences) fund the infractions and compliance efforts in a new effort like this, be it run by NCAA or private enterprise.

I think the proposal offers a place to start badly needed reform discussions. It’s a good initial step IMO.

I agree about the need of such a system. I have zero faith that the NCAA would do anything other than **** it up. They’re trying very hard to stay relevant, but in their antiquated minds, remaining relevant equates to a reversion to the way things were done 50 years ago. That ship has sailed, but they’re standing at the pier screaming for it to come back.

This proposal is very unique and forward looking to me. Contains ideas I thought I’d never see from the NCAA. This Prez doesn’t seem like the last one.

the NCAA was created and chartered with very little power. the intent was always for that to remain with the conferences.

I have a hard time criticizing the NCAA for their job being "custodians of the college athletic experience" when they were hamstrung from the start.

that said, they'd probably need a new charter and new governance if they're going to be remain the governance body for what has turned into professional league.
