New coaching name: Raheem Morris

Someone on rivals posted this, and I think it's a really, really good idea:

Raheem Morris.

Former NFL head coach. Young. Very personable. A defensive coordinator at K State. African American. Can bring in someone to run the offense (Stitt?)

Charisma off the charts.

For insight into Morris, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yz3zapfBqPo

Edit: Currently, Morris is DB coach for the Redskins. (I know).

Wasn't he a broncos coaching candidate at some point? I think I like the guy, but he doesn't have a very great record. in fact you might even call it pretty lousy...

Still open to it.

Couldn't care less about his ethnicity. Definitely a guy to look at as the DC if he'd be interested. I want more from a HC resume. I see too much risk with Morris as HC.

Still, he wasn't that bad with Tampa Bay (one good season). At 36 years old, he'll be getting another HC job somewhere. Good coach.

I thought I heard last week the Bucs canned him because he was too much of a players' coach.....My concern would be too young. I don't think anybody with NFL HC experience is too experienced, Jens. JMO though.

I see too much Embree here and I don´t mean his race.

Guy was the defensive backs coach for the Bucs, got promoted to DC when Gruden/Kiffin left and then got promoted again a month later to HC. Went 3-13, 10-6 and 4-12 and got fired. He seemed in over his head as a HC, has little experience apart from the 3 years as HC and couldn´t get a coordinator gig after he was fired.

Very risky, IMO. We aren't in a position to take that kind of a risk with this hire.

Only one season at KState. Not a lot of college experience. Nonetheless, intriguing for sure.

He was a head coach in the NFL. So comparing him to Embree as just an NFL position coach isnt really a good or accurate comparison.

I'd like CU to investigate this option further. Intrigues me. He seems like a much better fit in the college ranks than the pros. But it certainly would take that race card some have played and shove it where it needs to be shoved.

Got promoted without merit, seemed in over his head and flunked out relatively quickly.

That´s my Embree comparison.

C'mon, there have to be a few coordinators in CFB at big-time programs that are better candidates.

If he would come as a DC that is something to consider. Experience level is not what we are going to need here to be able to get the infrastructure in place. A person who understands how to set up a football operation. Based on what I read, he is not there IMO.

To me, running a college program is immensely different than being a pro coach. In college, the HC is at the top of the org chart. He runs the whole show from glad handing to recruiting to X's & O's. that is why the success rates of guys moving from one to the other isn't very good.

No. No no no. I have a friend who works for the Bucs. Said Raheem used to go out and party hard during game weeks. Wasn't nearly focused or driven enough to succeed. Pro coaches don't do that stuff. Plus, Kansas State's defense sucked the one year he was their DC>

Wait a minute, I know he's young but you're telling me a guy who's been coaching for 12+ years and was a HC in the NFL (at 33 years old BTW) is too inexperienced for the worst BCS football program in the country? We are getting awfully picky here.

a bright, young, energetic coach who knows how to coach DBs sounds pretty good in a pass-happy PAC 12.
