New Stadium "Going To Happen" For csu

So, he doesn't know what site the new stadium would go on. He doesn't have a handle on how much it will cost (could be $100 million, could be twice that). He doesn't have the funding in place.

But, by golly, it will be ready for the 2014 season.

I doubt it happens by 2014, but we're all going to be sad when this actually does happen.

Actually, I want them to have a new on-campus stadium. I think that CU is going to decide to keep the annual game alive because of the long history. There's only been one significant break in the series since 1893 and by the time the current contract is up we will have played over 90 times. If it's on our respective campuses, I would be much more interested in the game.

Good for them.

No need for CU to do anything to support football. Football is not important to a University. It's an academic institution, dammit! Let those brainiac sheep ruin the academic reputation of their school by showing commitment to football.

Bon-Bon is busy putting his finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing, then he will meet with every conceivable interest group, whether they have anything to do with athletics or not, then he must go to Dr. Phil and BB to review the focus group results, weighing every possible political ramification. And that is the process for ordering his lunch, imagine what has to be done for permission to make a facility improvement...be patient. /sarcasm.

CU's admin. is reactive, and way behind the curve. I have contended they want to give the impression of supporting the athletics, when in reality they want it on a short leash. I wouldn't expect much from the admin. JMO.

Can't resist...

I won't be sad at all. I think it would be fantastic if they could pull it off. I'd be thrilled.

I think CSU being good is actually good for us as well. An on-campus stadium needs to happen soon, I wish them the best (except for 1 week a year).

Funny that CSU fans were bleating about having a 70 yard indoor practice facility along with basketball practice gyms when it was built. Then we built the new practice facility at CU.

A "vision" is far from reality. Dick Tharp had a "vision" as well. That was 10 years ago.

hopefully Bohn wakes the **** up and realizes that he needs to get moving on our indoor facility and the extensive renovations that need to happen to Balch. So I was thinking about a beer garden and where we could actually put it. Do we actually take even more of Frankin field to put a beer garden there? that is the most logical place.

They would have to have money in hand and construction drawings ready for the stadium to be ready by 2014.

I applaud his vision and it will be great for CSU if he can pull it off, but his comments indicate he's never been involved in a major construction project before. They're 3-5 years out, at best. And that assumes they can raise the money fairly quickly.

Yeah. From an idea to a finished construction project takes at least 3 years. If they have to do an EIS, that alone would take a year.

Biggest question in my mind is where on campus would this thing go? Regardless, building an on-campus stadium just gets them even with CU at best. Folsom rocks. Now if we're talking about other facilities...

As someone that has lived up North most of his life I have been to the CSU campus a few times. I really have no idea where they would put a new stadium on campus.

CSU fans are now claiming College Game day in Fort Collins for the CU/CSU game in 2014:lol:

Whatever they decide to do, the new stadium MUST leverage the Mason Street Corridor Bus Rapid Transit project that is currently under construction and will eventually provide convienent access from Denver to Fort Collins. In terms of long range planning this seems like an absolute no-brainer to me:

My hope is that CSU utilizes the practice field areas off of Shields.

Dude seems like a salesman to me. Don't blame him for it, but under promise over deliver is a pretty good maxim to live by and he is violating it big time.

There are tons of programs building on-campus programs that are ****tu on the field. UCF, FAU, Tulane etc. It's probably a good risk in the long run, but that is assuming it gets CSU in a BCS conference. No one wants to watch CSU play the MWC rejects and CUSA leftovers

Mike Bohn sucks ass.

Unnecessary comment.

Just because CSU's AD is out there talking up a big game when he has nothing backing it up doesn't mean our AD should do the same. I totally understand CU fans' frustration with the pace that the facilities upgrades are taking. That aside, there are established timelines for making these kinds of announcements. The CSU AD is breaking all those timelines. You don't announce a facility upgrade until you have the majority of your funds accounted for and your plans already in place. CSU has none of that, yet it's saying they're moving forward and have a timeline for completion, no less!

Hey, CSquared. I'm HH over on the other board. You really think I'm just dying for this thing to fail, or were you just taking pot shots at an opposing fan on the other board?
