Bobby as I've heard was also a monster at track in high school. To think what his numbers would have been like if he didn't have to split carries with Brown, Houston, Calhoun and Charles over his career is incredible. Nice to see he's now putting in an honest day's work, taking care of his kids and still getting to enjoy the game. Good article.

Purify always seemed like a great guy while at CU. Respected by his teammates and coaches, hard worker, willing to do whatever it took to help the team. He committed well before Marcus Houston and when Houston committed he got all the attention. Purify was suddenly treated like an afterthought, the oh by the way other guy. He never complained, never wavered on his commitment, never acted like he had been disrespected.

Instead when he got to Boulder he worked his tail off. He showed up on all the special teams, he blocked, he prepared like he was going to play and did it all with a good attitude. When Houston got hurt he stepped in and gave everything he had until the end of his career as a Buff.

With the characteristics he showed while at CU I am not surprised in the least that he has done well for himself and his family after leaving. As to playing semi-pro ball, it seems like a great way for him to do what he likes and release the tensions of life.
The idot that made the negative comments about it has a lack of functioning brain cells. Would he make the same comments about his friends who go out and pass hours on the golf course, or fishing or any of the other activities that men do to relax, often spending more time and money than the semi-pro ballplayers are.

Good to see Purify is doing well, not surprising but good to see.

I played basketball against Purify in high school. He was such a freaky athlete that he would often out run or out quick his own dribble. Could jump out of the gym too. Good for the Gazette to catch-up with him.

This has always been one of my favorite songs. It's cool to know Bobby's uncle and grandpa sang this song.

And remember the pop-soul group James & Bobby Purify from the 1960’s? They were cousins—James is his uncle and Bobby his grandfather. They teamed on such songs as ”I’m Your Puppet,” “Let Love Come Between Us,” and a popular remake of “Shake A Tail Feather.”

Purify was the MVP of the 5A BB tournament when he was in HS. His team won the State Title. He is a great athlete.

Good for Bobby, always really liked him. He was never given a shot after proving himself in preseason with the 9ers. NFL is a business and very political.
