One of the keys to this week was getting through it without injuries. We're too thin to absorb them right now and we got past week one unscathed. Injuries will happen, of course, but the Buffs need so badly to build some continuity and give our young depth time to develop.

Credit to Dave Forman and his staff for committing to injury reduction.

Credit to the players for putting in the work.

Credit to the coaching staff for getting them ready.

And a big shout out to Lady Luck for smiling on the Buffs this Sunday.

Nope. Plati reported that just the standard bumps and bruised but no injuries.

You'll pardon me for hoping to get another opinion on that. I certainly hope POW is fine, but, well, you know. Burn me once and all that.

Gerald left the team. Jeff is still on the team, was suspended with one other guy for something undisclosed. Team violation is what I understand. Jeff is bigger and faster, right? None of which will hurt the Buffs next week. Another weapon for our opponent to worry about.

I don't think Jeff is faster. Maybe bigger, but not faster. GT was supposed to be a real 4.4 guy. Problem was he couldn't hold on to the football.

The jerk off I watched the game with also (correctly) noted that the Dline was much less winded than CSUs Oline as the game closed. More proof of quality S&T work.

Somewhere in Texas.

Did you mean Jeffrey Thomas?

I meant Gerald. I missed or forgot (probably the latter, lol) the news about him leaving, thanks.

Conditioning was big.

I think you also have to give credit to the play calling and the pace of the offense. I commented on chat last night in the first half that they were burning out the CSU defense. We didn't have a huge margin in TOP but we did have a big margin in the first half in total plays. As important it seemed like we had them running and chasing a lot. They seemed frustrated and confused and looked to have lost at least a step by the end of the game.

but, but, but .......... Sparkles had his team running 73 plays in two minutes in practice, while the Buffs lolligagged through their practices - obviously meaning that the goats would be better conditioned for this game.

Coach Mac credited S&C for the turnaround at SJSU and looks like they are replicating their success.

The only reason I suspected a fast turnaround here (still to be proven I know) was the fact CU has more talent than SJSU starting out and there is no learning curve for the staff like there was there.

Adam from Rivals sent out a tweet early last week about how the D-Line had slimmed down. Tuopo lost nearly 30 lbs if I remember correctly

That un-possible! CSU ran twice as many plays in their practices as the Buffs did, that reporter from the Ft Fun Coloradoan said so!

Do you have the link to that article? I've been looking for it but I got sick of the coloradoan website.

I love how HCMM used the comment about how CU's practices have been a "picnic" as bulletin board material. Be careful what you say and write, opposing media/coaches/players/fans... HCMM is from the Parcells school and will use anything to get his guys playing & coaching angry.

In so many ways, I see Mac1 & Mac2 as kindred spirits. Can't compare the success, but they seem to be psychologically built very similarly.

Agree. If I remember correctly, before the Orange Bowl win against ND, Mac1 asked the players to dedicate their performance in the upcoming game to someone, and put that in writing by having them sign a football and send it to their inspiration (insert JFF jokes here). Very similar to the commitment exercise he put the team through on Thursday night. I hope he leads us to the same success that Mac1 did!

So they just played POW very cautiously? It was tough to see Jones in there on a 3rd and short pound the middle with no success. That concerned me and still does about Powell's "bumps and bruises". If there is ever a time he needs to be in the game, it's on those plays. That sure seems like being overly cautious. I sure hope Plati is right.

Coach Mac said in the presser today, that Powell got hit in the thigh in a place where he had a deep bone bruise last year and it was bugging him a little off and on so the decided to take it easy. All players participated in full today except Tyler McCulloch. Apparently that too is precautionary.
