Oddball Buff Facts

FLounder

Think Positive and life will be Positive.
Troy Polamalu and Carson Palmer at one time committed to play for the buffs in their high school years.

JJ Watt, the infamous 2* underdog with no p5 offers, actually had a written offer to play for the Buffs. Not a verbal, an actual offer, his story is fabricated.

During Rahsaan Salaams ‘94 heisman season, he ran for over 300 yards AT texas. He had the flu.

The University of Colorado has the record for the most 4* and 5* recruits who silently commit and decide to go elsewhere in the 11th hour.

Keep it rollin

JR Seau wanted to go to CU but his dad wanted him to stay home......Kyle Orton was on the fence with CU......Jeremy Maclin was going to commit but knew Barnett was on his way out....Maurice Jones Drew as well

In preparation for the 1990 Orange Bowl, the team was issued 2 Orange Bowl jock straps, one for practices and one on game day.
Ha! Good stuff FlaBuff! We only got one Bluebonnet Bowl jock in 1971 on game day. It was in a roll with a half Colorado Football t-shirt and socks. It might be in my bottom drawer with a couple of old jerseys. I'll have to see if it still fits if its in there. :-D

Maybe so, but he was a smart man to avoid being a part of the Hawkins era at CU.

Tommy Frazier called Elliot Uzelac to commit to CU but we told him we were recruiting Koy Detmer instead and would Tommy be interested in playing defensive back.

Heard this from several sources, one of whom I absolutely consider to be knowledgeable of the situation.

Heard something similar about that, not about Frazier playing DB though. I thought it was simply because the offense was gonna change.

we got plenty of other bowl swag for each game, but that Orange Bowl was the only one we got jocks for.

The Rock was part of a nasty melee in 1993 in Boulder. Start at 1:14:00 if you want to just see him, earlier if you want to see why Miami was basically Thug U in the '90s

There was more than one Embree that played for the buffs. John was on the sideline in that video and there was #81 on the field. Oddball fact

Didn’t we have L. Bell committed before he finally chose Michigan state. :(

1) Bison are North America’s largest land animals. Mature bulls weigh up to 2,000 pounds and mature cows as much as 1,000 pounds.
2) A bison stands 6 – 6.5 feet tall and 10 – 12.5 feet long.
3) A bison’s hump is composed of muscle, supported by long vertebrae. It allows the animal to use its head to plow through snow.
4) Most of the 500,000 or so bison nationwide are raised as livestock on ranches. About 30,000 are managed for conservation in private and public herds.
5) Fossils and accounts from early travelers show that Yellowstone National Park is the only place in the U.S. where bison have lived continuously since prehistoric times.
6) The Yellowstone herd is one of the few that remains genetically free of cattle genes.

Darian Hagan got a verbal commitment from Pat White in the fall of 2004 in Hagan's first year with the Buffs. Barnett told him he was nuts, we weren't running the option anymore, and Hagan didn't know what he was doing in recruiting. Barnett wouldn't accept the commitment and told Hagan to stop recruiting him.
