TRENTINO, Italy—Junior Rune Oedegaard continued his impressive showing at the 26th Winter World University Games here Tuesday, finishing eighth place in the Men’s 10K Freestyle race, headlining a solid couple of days for the CU contingent here.
Oedegaard was the top finisher from Norway in the race and finished the 10K course in 24:35.7, about 24 seconds out of a medal. Former Buff Gustav Nordstroem finished in 18th in a time of 24:57.8 while junior Arnaud Du Pasquier finished 62nd in a time of 26:03.8. In all, 114 competitors entered the race with 110 finishing.
Former Buff Eliska Hajkova finished 36th in the women’s 5K freestyle race in a time of 14:12.1.
In alpine action, the Buffs had six competitors in the men’s giant slalom races on Tuesday and they all finished close to one another, led by sophomore Kasper Hietanen, who finished in 30th in a time of 1:51.32. Sophomore Cameron Smith, who finished in 35th with a time of 1:52.17 while sophomore Henrik Gunnarsson two spots back in 37th in a time of 1:52.46.
