Off Topic - Dunlap fired by Bobcats

Dunlap reportedly wasn't popular with the players but this is a strange move. Some are defending him by saying how can they attract free agents to Charlotte if they have a coach that players wouldn't want to play for, but the delusional part of that line of thinking is that big-time free agents would want to play in Charlotte in the first place.

21 wins. 61 losses.

If Dunlap didn't have ties to Colorado, we wouldn't even shrug at this move.

he tripled the teams wins... granted it isnt great but he deserved another year

Says the guy who is extra biased by his Metro ties.

P.S. Dunlap can coach. That's not in doubt. But he doesn't play well with others and it has kept him from getting D1 jobs. It was always questionable whether he could manage NBA egos (players, agents and front office).

I don't disagree with anything you said, I just think he should have gotten a little more time, maybe the first couple months of the year... now if phil jackson is the next coach of the bobcats... which as i type this is starting to make a little sense... Then you know why he was replaced...

I've seen the Phil Jackson speculation a couple places... why would he want to take on that dumpster fire of a roster? The guy wins championships with superstars. He likes living by the beach with Jeannie Buss. I don't see it at all.

How is that in any way relevant when this was his first year with an awful lineup?

The equivalent would be for CU to fire MM after this year if he doesn't win more than 3 games. Outrageous.

OK, so he does have ties to Colorado and that's why it is a topic on this board....

That's what I was saying.

It's certainly not an injustice.

It will be interesting to see where he lands, though. He was damn close to being the CU HC.

fify

Would have been interesting to see his running offense in Boulder.

Hope Tad will return to the days of Burks-Higgins, averaging 80 plus per! He now has the horses to do so. 48-47 is so B!G!

Players that won 21games this year calling the shots, pathetic.

Considering they were rebuilding, with not much talent to speak of... dunno what people expected. Phil Jackson wouldn't have coached this team to 30 wins. Charlotte is going to have a very long rebuilding process, and it would be better if they had the same coaching staff for most of the process.

What coach is going to want anything to do with that team? Especially if we know they will be quick to fire their coach? They're delusional if they think any free agent is going to want anything to do with that team. It's the least attractive job in the NBA. They have a couple pieces (Walker, Kidd-Gilchrist, Henderson) to build around but probably the worst front court in the NBA

There'd be less outrage/ Obviously, this is a Colorado-based board, else we aren't discussing this so extensively. But I still think many would say, "you have to give him more time."
