Offensive line next season

First and foremost, we need to ensure RT is taken care of because Dannewitz has been really bad. Adam posted a stat that he has graded out below 80 in seven games this season. Damn. Hopefully a fully healthy Harris will be the answer.

Beyond RT, hopefully center is settled in the spring. There are a lot of questions here entering next season, but I think the potential is there to be an improvement over this season.

Don't forget RG. Even if you pencil in Asiata (if he is ever healthy) at LG, the competition at RG will be fierce. The entire interior of the line is up for grabs. Where does Nembot go? Does he need another year before he competes for time? HE's supposedly one of the best players on the scout team.

Any way to see those lineman grades?

This will be the key to our success next year. The play on BOTH sides of the line. We looked like a bunch of pussies out there this year.

I dont think we just looked like pussies, I think we were a bunch of pussies. We made some average dlines look like LSU.

Isn't center up for grabs between 3 players too. Munyer was in at guard I think at times in the UCLA game so he'll be in the mix there too.

If they are truely 1a and 1b at center you'd have to expect the other (munyer?) to be in the running at guard wouldnt you?

I think Nembot starts next season out of necessity. By end of his sophomore year, he is our best OLineman. Fact.

Because we have different people coaching almost every position every year.

This is a very solid point, especially as it relates to O-line we havent had a decent and consistent coach here since Grimes. We also changed from a strength and conditioning program that had Miller at close to 320 to one that dropped him to 295. Ad to the constantly changing offensive philosophy and that he now is plying for a coach who likes lineman fast and athletic and you have a recipe for lack of growth.

That would be some amazing progress. But, I'm 99% that won't happen. I am surprised to see Adkins has grade out the best of all OL this year. Maybe we will miss him and Miller?

so after watching the UCLA game I got pissed because that team had some attitude and they got in our players head. After every running play, UCLA would make a tackle and it could be a one yard gain or a 12 yard gain and the other defensive players would run up and pull each other up and celebrate the play and our guys would sulk back to the huddle. Our boys have no fire or intensity and it is awesome we are jolly fellas, but I want some guys that will piss fire (and not the kind you get from tini's mom). We need some football players here, we need some attitude. I want the other team to dread playing us because we are so physical and will play every single play from whistle to whistle. All eleven guys playing with heart.

Bahktiari, Asiata, Munyer, Handler, Harris. Should be a solid crew, but our OL on paper always seems solid. I'll be curious to see who is ready to back them all up too. Lots of question marks behind that crew.

Will Nembot be ready? Can Alex Kelley contribute? Cotner? Dannewitz seems to be out of his element on the edge, maybe he'd make a nice guard? Crabb has looked pretty bad this season, does he contribute? Can Alex Lewis carry the necessary weight?

Jalil and Jimmy had the same coach for much of their tenure...

edit: so did speedy.

So did Darrell Scott, so did Jon Major, so did Lynn Katoa (ok so he ****ed up off the field) so did Marcus Houston. This isn't mainly about just Ryan Miller, I'm talking about all our 4 or 5 star players. We don't get a lot, but the percentages of them being successful here are not great.

Jon Major's torn his ACL twice while at CU. Darrell Scott didn't want to work and Speedy did.

Becuase over the past 6 years, 95% of CU players show promise as freshman or sophmores and never reach or maximize their potential,. Yes, coaching has a small part in that.

OL wise I am hoping that Mustoe and Nembot make strides this offseason. I like out tackles to have height and long arms. LT is set and I think the rest of the line spots are up for grabs.

At Center, Handler and Kelley should be the top two since it seems that Munyer already lost out to Handler.

I thought Munyer would be a better Guard coming out of high school, so I could see him challenging for PT along with Asiata, Crabb, and Dannewitz (who should move inside). I could see Asiata at LG and Crabb at RG being the starters.

Bakhtiari obviously has the inside track at LT. I think Harris is the favorite for RT as long as he recovers well. Nembot, Mustoe, and Lewis will provide depth and challenge for PT at either T spot. If Harris isn't ready to go then I think Nembot has the edge based on physical upside and reports from the scout team.

Breaking in two new starters at both the guard spots will be a big deal, especially with our struggles at center this year. If the middle isn't strong it will be hard to run the ball and give a new starter at QB time to read the play.

Not to mention that Harris barely played this year in the Pac and while he played OK in his the games against Hawaii and Cal, he wasn't lights out either.

It will be interesting to see if Nembot plays at guard if nobody else rises to the occasion. Pretty tall dude to be an interior guy but if he can get the job done, who cares.

Marshall certainly has his work cut out for him in the off-season getting these guys ready to take over.

Crabb will surprise some folks.

My projected depth

RT-Harris, Danniewitz(sp), Mustoe
RG-Crabb or Munyer
C- Handler or Munyer
LG- Asiata
LT- Bakthiari(sp), Nembot, Lewis
