Time to welcome the Buffs back to Coors Events Center as they tip-off tonight against the bi-polar Huskies of Washington. LoRo seemed to have his mojo back early on the season when UW was ranked , playing great defense, challenging shots at the rim, and winning tough games. Then Stony-Brook happened. Since that game UW is 2-4 and although they are coming off two home wins they look a lot more beatable now than they did earlier in the season.

As we know we'll be without big X tonight and to the best of my knowledge Scott is still questionable.
 
Are we going to see Scott playing tonight? If so, I am hoping we see that his back is letting him move around and own the paint. Would be a nice boost for the team to have him healthy again.
 
Prediction:

CU 60
Wash: 65

Scott:12 pts 8 rebs
Gordon: 8 pts 8 rebs
Ski: 18 pts 4 asts
Hopkins: 12 pts, 5 rebs 3 asts

Williams-Goss, breaks down our guards all night and their bigs are too much for us inside. Not sure we can score with them without XJ.

Hoping for a win, but we will need to play well
 
Even without XJ, this is a very winnable game, Washington is mediocre on the road this year, and we are very good at home against mediocre and bad teams, so I would be surprised if we didn't win.

The key to me is to get Upshaw into foul trouble for us to thrive in the paint.

If we can do that, we have a great chance to win tonight.
 
From Howell's chat yesterday, not looking good for Scott to go tonight. Personally I saw him struggling to standup while sitting down on the bench last weekend, moving very gingerly -

Q: I know that the coaching staff keeps updates on injuries pretty close to the vest but can you give any insight into what course of action is being taken concerning Josh Scott's injury?

A: Good question. I haven't heard about what exactly Josh is doing to recover. I do know that rest - and lots of it - is part of it. Usually, when you see injured players at practice - whether it's football or basketball - they're off to the side doing SOMETHING. Josh is really not doing much of anything.

Q: Is Josh Scott going to be ready to play against UDub?

A: I'll find out more later on today at practice, but if I had guess, I would highly doubt it. Josh isn't even practicing. Just a guess, but I don't think we're going to see Josh playing for a while. I'd be surprised if he plays at all this weekend.

This game is going to be extremely hard to win without Josh. Upshaw and Kemp are will kill us inside unless we get them in foul trouble

I think you're undervaluing #TadBall. The only team that UW has beat on the road was Seattle, and how much of a road game is that really? Even without XJ and maybe Scott we are still a better team than WSU and Cal, both of which UW has lost to on the road (WSU by 3 in Seattle and Cal by 6 on the road). UW is not a good team, just like 10 other teams in the Pac 12 this year.

This is a game we are favored in. It is a game we should win. It is a game we need to win. It is a game we will win.

you are right, I do undervalue "tadball." Just think without our second and third best players, we are the worse team

No Jelly tonight per Tad today at a small luncheon. Sounded like it might be a couple more weeks. He's worried about UW size. If they go big, we'll go zone. Planning on running a lot more tonight. Talked a bit about the season as a whole. He said nothing has changed in his approach, philosophy, coaching, and goals. Subtly alluded to lack of player buy-in and commitment on a few occasions. Talked about this team and it's future. We're going to miss Ski big time.

For the record, I absolutely love Tad.

I think you are overvaluing what TadBall was and what TadBall actually is this year.
 
Tadball requires a team that is willing to completely sell out on the defensive end and on loose balls. It is not being played in Boulder this year.

Tad brought this up today. This team is statistically the same as the 2012 team - Dufault, Brown, Tomlinson, Spencer offensively. I mean identical. The difference is that team made the extra effort to get stops when they had to. Tad was clear that this team doesn't have that toughness.

At their place yes. At our place we are the better team. We still have some good factors going for us such as coaching and hone court advantage

Stating the obvious, but we'd better be ready to scrap above and beyond what we did against UCLA and some guys are going to have to step up and give us more than 2-4 points.
 
I think that jaron has found his groove so to speak, and getting 8-10 (or more) out of him night in and night out (with the occasional off night) can probably become a thing. Wes also seems to be getting close, and he should be good for 6-10 pts (though honestly that guy should be hanging 15 pts on people most nights).

Where the rest will come from outside booker, who knows?

Crossing my fingers that Fletch found it in the 2nd half and that it stays found.

That didn't happen for Dustin following his breakout, but we can hope this is different (and Dustin's game returns at home).
 
I think it is worthwhile to have the game time at the top of these game threads for quick reference.

Home court meant an 18-point differential last year for the Buffs., where they played 'home-and-away' match ups. It's been huge in recent years. The CSU loss was disturbing, but the Buffs shouldn't be losing to WU or WSU at home, although injuries and some ineffective play by this year's edition raise concerns. I'm not as confident as I'd like to be.

There's a reason why winning on the road in college basketball is the most difficult place to win in sports as a whole
