THE GAME: The University of Colorado will face Southern Methodist University in the final round of the 2015 Las Vegas Classic on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 8:30 p.m. MST at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
THE CHANNEL: This game is TELEVISED (woo!) on FS1 (150 on Dish, some other channel on the other providers)
THE AUDIO: Not yet listed. Check here: http://www.cubuffs.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?type=live&db_oem_id=600
OPENING TIP: At 11-1, this CU team is entering rarified air when it comes to records to start the season...
ABOUT SMU: Coached by Tad Boyle's mentor, Larry Brown, SMU is, quite simply, really good. Ranked 18th in the country, they are one of six undefeated teams out of the 350+ that play D1 basketball. They play very similar to CU. Kenpom has them as the #13 team in the country, while CU is at #44. KenPom gives SMU a 71% chance of winning this game.
Can the student become the master? We shall see.
PREVIOUS MATCH UP: CU plays SMU in a pre-season scrimmage every year. The whispers at the burrito stand are that CU beat SMU in this year's scrimmage, but that Dom Collier had 85 fouls (that number may be incorrect). So take that for what it's worth.
CLOSING THOUGHTS: Win or lose, this game will help CU's RPI, currently siting at 19th, because SMU's is 12th. So stay loose, enjoy the game, and don't get too negative!
