OPENING TIP: Colorado is riding a three-game winning streak on the road dating back to last season.
ABOUT THE BUFFALOES: Colorado got its 2011-12 season started off on the right foot, running past Northern Arizona 84-60 on Nov. 11 at the Coors Events Center.
The Buffaloes had three players in double figures, led by sophomore Brittany Wilson with 22 points. Freshman Lexy Kresl tied a school record with five three-pointers in the first half, finishing with 15, and sophomore Chucky Jeffery came off the bench to add 11 points.
CU finished its first game with a 57.1 percentage from the field (32-of-56) and was at 66.7 percent from the free throw line (12-of-18). NAU, also opening its season, was held to 37.5 percent shooting (21-of-56).
BUFFS IN OPENERS: With the win over Northern Arizona, Colorado improved to 33-5 (.868) all-time in season openers as the Buffaloes started the season with a home game for the 26th time in 38 seasons. Colorado moved to an outstanding 36-2 (.947) all-time in home openers. Colorado has never lost its overall season opener when played at home (26-0).
ABOUT THE ISLANDERS: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi dropped its season opener to Missouri, 75-58, at home on Nov. 12. Three players scored in double-digits for the Islanders, led by guard Verne'qua Taylor who had 12 points on 5-of-10 from the field. Forward Trish Amboree had 11 points and guard Marquesha Anderson had 10. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi shot just 33 percent for the game.
The Islanders are coming off a 2-27 campaign in 2010-11, but this is a new look team featuring just one returning starter and seven newcomers. Jessica Jammer is the one returing starter for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, averaging 8.1 points and 4.1 rebounds as a sophomore. Jammer came off the bench against Missouri, grabbing a team-best eight rebounds to go along with six points.
SERIES RECORDS: Colorado and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi meet for the first time in women's basketball.
The Buffaoes are 7-1 against teams that make up the Southland Conference, most recently defeating Texas State 67-35 on Dec. 1, 2010. CU's only loss against a Southland Conference squad was against Texas State, then known as Southwest Texas State, on Dec. 5, 1991, in San Marcos, Texas.
Linda Lappe has never faced Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as a head coach. Robert Robinson has never faced Colorado as a head coach.
